Characterization of the spray drying behaviour of emulsions containing oil droplets with a structured interface
Yvonne Serfert,Jewe Schröder,A. Mescher,J. Laackmann,M. Q. Shaikh,Klaus Rätzke,Volker Gaukel,Heike P. Schuchmann,Peter Walzel,Hans-Ulrich Moritz,Stephan Drusch,Karin Schwarz +11 more
TL;DR: It could be shown, that excess chitosan in the bulk carrier matrix affects the free volume elements and thus oxygen diffusion as well as the oxidative stability of the microcapsules during storage.

A case study of real-time monitoring of solid-state phase transformations in acoustically levitated particles using near infrared and Raman spectroscopy.
Sönke Rehder,Jian X. Wu,J. Laackmann,J. Laackmann,Hans-Ulrich Moritz,Jukka Rantanen,Thomas Rades,Thomas Rades,Claudia S. Leopold +8 more
TL;DR: It was concluded that acoustic levitation with NIR and Raman spectroscopy combined with multivariate curve resolution allowed direct determination of the recrystallisation kinetics of amorphous drugs and thus is a promising technique for monitoring solid-state phase transformations of adhesive small-sized samples during the early phase of drug development.

Experimental Investigation and Numerical Simulation of Spray Processes
J. Laackmann,Winfried Säckel,Lina Cepelyte,Kamil Walag,Robert Sedelmayer,Franz Keller,Werner Pauer,Hans-Ulrich Moritz,Ulrich Nieken +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the influence of different parameters on the drying process of aqueous polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) solutions and compared to the evaporation of water.

Investigation of polymerization of NVP and drying of PVP in an acoustic levitator using a smart camera for online process measurement
J. Laackmann,Silvia Ahmed,Robert Sedelmayer,Michael J. Klaiber,Werner Pauer,Sven Simon +5 more
- 01 Jan 2012
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the polymerization of the monomer N-vinyl-2pyrrolidone in levitated droplets and demonstrated the general feasibility of employing such a smart camera is demonstrated on images obtained by shadowgraphy during acoustic levitation.
Acoustic Levitation: A Powerful Tool to Model Spray Processes
M. Junk,Annelie H. Halfar,Matthias Griesing,Robert Sedelmayer,J. Laackmann,L. Cepelyte,Werner Pauer,Hans-Ulrich Moritz +7 more
- 01 Jan 2016
TL;DR: In this article, acoustic levitation was used as a model system for spray drying processes within DFG Project SPP1423-Process Spray to elucidate the drying behavior of single droplets and the formation of the particle morphology in more detail.
