Links between circulation weather types and teleconnection patterns and their influence on precipitation patterns in Galicia (NW Spain)
TL;DR: In this paper, an automated version of the Lamb weather type classification scheme was used to study the relationship between atmospheric circulation patterns and rainfall in the northwestern part of the Iberian Peninsula, which is an important area of crossing influences of the different teleconnection patterns of the Northern Hemisphere.

The state of climate in NW Iberia
Moncho Gómez-Gesteira,Luis Gimeno,Maite deCastro,M. N. Lorenzo,Ines Alvarez,Raquel Nieto,J. J. Taboada,Alejandro J. C. Crespo,Alexandre M. Ramos,Isabel Iglesias,J.L. Gómez-Gesteira,Fátima Espírito Santo,David Barriopedro,Isabel F. Trigo +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, a significant increasing trend in land and sea surface temperatures of 0.5 and 0.24 degrees C decade−1, respectively, in the NW Iberian Peninsula was observed.
A two-dimensional particle tracking model for pollution dispersion in A Coruna and Vigo Rias (NW Spain)
Moncho Gómez-Gesteira,Pedro Montero,Ricardo Prego,J. J. Taboada,Paulo C. Leitão,Manuel Ruiz-Villarreal,Ramiro Neves,Vicente Pérez-Villar +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a two-dimensional hydrodynamic model coupled to a particle tracking model is applied to study the dispersion processes and residence time in two Galician rias (A Coruna and Vigo, NW Spain) under summer conditions.

Hydrography of the Pontevedra Ria: Intra-annual spatial and temporal variability in a Galician coastal system (NW Spain)
Ricardo Prego,Andrew W. Dale,Maite deCastro,Moncho Gómez-Gesteira,J. J. Taboada,Pedro Montero,Manuel R. Villareal,Vicente Pérez-Villar,Vicente Pérez-Villar,Vicente Pérez-Villar +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a systematic investigation of the hydrography of the Pontevedra Ria was carried out between October 1997-98, in which the current was controlled by tide, river discharge, and wind in the internal ria where the highest velocities were directed along the ria channel with a low transverse component.
Evaluation of the Seasonal Variations in the Residual Circulation in the Rı́a of Vigo (NW Spain) by Means of a 3D Baroclinic Model
J. J. Taboada,Ricardo Prego,Manuel Ruiz-Villarreal,Moncho Gómez-Gesteira,Pedro Montero,A. P. Santos,Vicente Pérez-Villar +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a 3D baroclinic model has been applied to study residual circulation in the Ria of Vigo (NW Spain) under different seasonal conditions, and a two-layered circulation was obtained in all situations, which is in good agreement with the partially-mixed condition of the estuary.
