TL;DR: In this article, uncertainty and sensitivity analysis results obtained in the 1992 performance assessment (PA) for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) are presented, where the primary performance measure under study is the complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) used in assessing compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) standard for the geologic disposal of radioactive waste.

Effect of alternative conceptual models in a preliminary performance assessment for the waste isolation pilot plant
Jon C. Helton,D.R. Anderson,B.L. Baker,J.E. Bean,J.W. Berglund,Walter E. Beyeler,J.W. Garner,H.J. Iuzzolino,M.G. Marietta,Robert P. Rechard,P.J. Roache,D.K. Rudeen,J.D. Schreiber,Peter N. Swift,Martin S. Tierney,Palmer Vaughn +15 more
TL;DR: The most appropriate conceptual model for performance assessment (PA) at the waste isolation pilot plant (WIPP) is believed to include gas generation resulting from corrosion and microbial action in the repository, and a dual-porosity (matrix and fracture porosity) representation for the solute transport in the Culebra dolomite member of the Rustler formation as mentioned in this paper.

TL;DR: A detailed performance assessment (PA) for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) was carried out in 1996 and supported an application by the DOE to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for certification of the WIPP for the disposal of transuranic (TRU) waste.
Preliminary comparison with 40 CFR Part 191, Subpart B for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, December 1990

TL;DR: Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) is evaluating long-term performance against criteria in Subpart B of the Environmental Radiation Protection Standards for Management and Disposal of Spent Nuclear Fuel, High-Level and Transuranic Radioactive Wastes (40 CFR Part 191, US EPA, 1985) as discussed by the authors.
Parameter sensitivity studies of selected components of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant repository/shaft system

- 01 Mar 1990
TL;DR: In this paper, preliminary analyses of flow through the rooms, drifts, seals, and shafts of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) were presented to evaluate the importance of various components and parameters of the transuranic waste repository.
