Folate deficiency in depressive illness.
TL;DR: Serum folate and vitamin B12 levels have been measured in 101 patients with depressive illness and patients with subnormal folate levels were found to have significantly higher depressive scores, and significantly lower validity scores on the Marke-Nyman Temperament Scale.

Prophylactic treatment of alcoholism by lithium carbonate. A controlled study.
TL;DR: Lithium therapy has been shown to have a therapeutic influence in reducing the drinking and incapacity by alcohol in depressive alcoholics in a prospective double blind placebo-controlled trial conducted over one year, but it had no significant effect on non-depressed patients.

TL;DR: This group of patients who had responded to amitriptyline when suffering from a depressive illness should be treated with antidepressant medication for eight months after apparent recovery, and care should be taken to ensure the patients' compliance.

Thyrotrophin-releasing hormone in the treatment of depression
TL;DR: No therapeutic action was demonstrated in a double-blind cross-over trial in depressive patients of intravenous thyrotrophin-releasing hormone and there was evidence that the T.R.H.S. was impaired in a proportion of the depressive patients.
