Long chain non-esterified fatty acid pattern in plasma of cystic fibrosis patients and their parents
TL;DR: It has not been convincingly demonstrated yet that the abnormal plasma NEFA pattern in Cystic Fibrosis is entirely due to malabsorption of dietary essential fatty acids, but a primary defect in fatty acid metabolism also remains possible.
Bilateral fiberoptic bronchoalveolar lavage in acute unilateral lobar pneumonia
TL;DR: Bilateral cultures of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid were obtained from eight children with unilateral lobar pneumonia and in four patients bacterial pathogens were not isolated from lavage of the radiologically normal side but were subsequently cultured from the consolidated segment.

Tuberculosis in children: a 13-year follow up of 1714 patients in a Belgian home care centre
TL;DR: From May 1970 to September 1983, 1714 children with different forms of primary tuberculosis were referred to the paediatric home care centre of the Brussels University Hospital St.-Pierre, and 82% of them were migrants of low socio-economic level.

TL;DR: Interestingly, neither colonization with a distinct or an epidemic strain (belonging to either of the three newly identified Burkholderia genomovars) nor colonization for a prolonged period of time, led to a rapid deterioration of lung function in these CF patients.
