Molecular basis for nucleotide conservation at the ends of the dengue virus genome.
Barbara Selisko,Supanee Potisopon,Rym Agred,Stéphane Priet,Isabelle Varlet,Yann Thillier,Corinne Sallamand,Françoise Debart,Jean-Jacques Vasseur,Bruno Canard +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that NS5PolDV contains a specific priming site for adenosine 5′-triphosphate as the first transcribed nucleotide in the dengue virus, and that these conservational mechanisms, mediated by the polymerase alone, may extend to other RNA virus families having RdRps initiating RNA synthesis de novo.
DNA mismatch repair in Xenopus egg extracts: repair efficiency and DNA repair synthesis for all single base-pair mismatches.
TL;DR: Repair of all 12 single base-pair mismatches by Xenopus egg extracts was measured by a physical assay with a sequence containing four overlapping restriction sites, suggesting the presence of different repair systems or different modes of mismatch recognition.

Structural characterization of Set1 RNA recognition motifs and their role in histone H3 lysine 4 methylation.
Lionel Trésaugues,Pierre-Marie Dehé,Raphael Guerois,Alfonso Rodríguez-Gil,Isabelle Varlet,Philippe Salah,Mercè Pamblanco,Pierre Luciano,Sophie Quevillon-Cheruel,Julie Sollier,Nicolas Leulliot,Joël Couprie,Vicente Tordera,Sophie Zinn-Justin,Sebastián Chávez,Herman van Tilbeurgh,Vincent Géli +16 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that Set1 RRMs bind RNA, but Set1 RNA-binding activity is not linked to H3K4 methylation.

Cdk and the anillin homolog Bud4 define a new pathway regulating septin organization in yeast.
TL;DR: A role of the anillin-like protein Bud4 in the formation and the disassembly of the double ring structure formed by the septins at the time of cytokinesis is reported and the function of Bud4 is regulated by the cyclin-dependent protein kinase Cdk1, the master regulator of cell cycle progression.

Compartmentalization of the functions and regulation of the mitotic cyclin Clb2 in S. cerevisiae.
Raïssa Eluère,Nicolas Offner,Isabelle Varlet,Olivia Motteux,Laurence Signon,André Picard,Eric Bailly,Marie-Noëlle Simon +7 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that the subcellular localization of the mitotic cyclin Clb2 is one of the key determinants of its biological function, and a direct role of the cytoplasmic pool of Clb1,2-Cdk1 in terminating cytoskeleton and growth polarization, independently of G1 cyclin transcriptional regulation.
