Manfred E. Beutel,Eva M. Klein,Elmar Brähler,Iris Reiner,Claus Jünger,Matthias Michal,Jörg Wiltink,Philipp S. Wild,Thomas Münzel,Karl J. Lackner,Ana N. Tibubos +10 more
TL;DR: The findings support the view that loneliness poses a significant health problem for a sizeable part of the population with increased risks in terms of distress (depression, anxiety), suicidal ideation, health behavior and health care utilization.
Childhood adversities and distress - The role of resilience in a representative sample.
Manfred E. Beutel,Ana N. Tibubos,Eva M. Klein,Gabriele Schmutzer,Iris Reiner,Rüya Daniela Kocalevent,Elmar Brähler +6 more
TL;DR: The study corroborates the buffering effect of resilience in a representative German sample and shows high trait resilient subjects show less distress and somatoform symptoms despite reported childhood adversities in comparison to those with low resilient coping abilities.
Striking discrepancy of anomalous body experiences with normal interoceptive accuracy in depersonalization-derealization disorder.
Matthias Michal,Bettina Reuchlein,Julia Adler,Iris Reiner,Manfred E. Beutel,Claus Vögele,Hartmut Schächinger,André Schulz +7 more
TL;DR: A striking discrepancy of normal interoception with overwhelming experiences of disembodiment in DPD is highlighted, which may reflect difficulties of DPD patients to integrate their visceral and bodily perceptions into a sense of their selves.
Noise annoyance predicts symptoms of depression, anxiety and sleep disturbance 5 years later. Findings from the Gutenberg Health Study.
Manfred E. Beutel,Elmar Brähler,Mareike Ernst,Eva M. Klein,Iris Reiner,Jörg Wiltink,Matthias Michal,Philipp S. Wild,Andreas Schulz,Thomas Münzel,Omar Hahad,Jochem König,Karl J. Lackner,Norbert Pfeiffer,Ana N. Tibubos +14 more
TL;DR: Current and past noise annoyances are identified as risk factors for mental distress and sleep disturbance and the need to provide regulatory measures in affected areas to prevent mental health problems is indicated.

TL;DR: In this paper, the Three-Item Loneliness Scale was applied in a representative survey of the German population (N=2527; 14-95 years) to determine the degree of loneliness of women and men across different age groups, explore its association with distress, and psychometrically evaluate the three-item liveness scale, and provide norm values.
