The increasing popularity of consumer smart devices has led to concerns about the security of electronic data. Blockchains, which are tamper-proof, can be used to store electronic data securely, preserving the privacy of individuals and devices. However, most of the consumer smart devices are resource-constrained, so the computational overhead of blockchain based schemes should not be ignored. Furthermore, the dynamic change of consumer smart devices in real-world scenarios is also an open issue. In this paper, a revocable and lightweight access control scheme (ReLAC) is proposed to realize deduplication and dynamic user revocation for smart consumer electronics/devices using blockchain. To protect the privacy of consumers and devices in the access matrix, the partially hidden policy is adopted in the proposed scheme. Note that, no detailed attribute values of the consumers or the devices are included in the ciphertext transmission. Finally, outsourced decryption is applied to solve the resource-constrained problem of smart consumer electronics/devices. The proposed scheme is proved to be s-IND-CPA secure in the standard model if there exists no one can crackle the decisional q-BDHE assumption. The performance analysis and experiments demonstrate that the proposed scheme is secure and computational efficiency for the application in consumer electronic systems. 

ReLAC: Revocable and Lightweight Access Control with Blockchain for Smart Consumer Electronics

The cloud-assisted mobile electronic health (e-health) system facilitates e-health data sharing between healthcare providers and patients, but also raises the security and privacy concerns of e-health data. Although Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption (CP-ABE) has been a promising technique to achieve fine-grained access control over encrypted e-health data, it still incurs high encryption and decryption burdens on mobile users such as smartphones and sensors. In addition, malicious cloud servers may conduct incorrect operations due to various interest incentives (e.g., leaking sensitive information to illegal users, saving computation and storage costs). To solve the above issues, in this paper we first propose an Outsourced CP-ABE (OABE) with verifiable encryption scheme by splitting secret keys corresponding to an attribute set and using the short signature, which not only reduces the encryption and decryption complexities of mobile users but also guarantees that cloud servers correctly perform encryption operations. Then, we extend OABE to construct outsourced CP-ABE with verifiable decryption (OABE+) by utilizing the verifiable tag mechanism, which guarantees that cloud servers correctly conduct the ciphertext transformation. Formal security analysis proves that our schemes are selectively secure against unauthorized accesses and malicious operations. Extensive experiments using various real-world datasets demonstrate that our schemes are efficient and feasible in real applications. 

Verifiable Outsourced Attribute-Based Encryption Scheme for Cloud-Assisted Mobile E-health System

The field of cryptography has endeavored to solve numerous security problems. However, a common premise of many of those problems is that the encryptor always generates the ciphertext correctly. Around 10 years ago, this premise was not a problem. However, due to the rapid development and the use of the cloud, which has introduced various access policies and functionalities to provide higher security, it is not correct to assume that this premise is always applied. A "Fake Policy Attack", which we introduce in this paper, is an attack that incorrectly sets the access policy of the ciphertext against the system rules so that users who do not meet the rules can decrypt the ciphertext. In other words, it is an attack that ignores the rules of the system and eventually breaks the security and leaks information. This attack can be more critical for the application environments that require strong security not to leak any related information about ciphertext. In this paper, we demonstrate the possible threat of the Fake Policy Attack by providing two relevant examples. Then, we propose a scheme called Policy Authenticable ABE (PA-ABE) to resolve this issue. We provide a formal security analysis of the proposed scheme and performance evaluation results based on our implementation.

Harnessing Policy Authenticity for Hidden Ciphertext Policy Attribute Based Encryption

Introduction to Lattice

Nowadays, broadcasters must supply diverse content to multiple groups without delay in platforms such as social media and streaming sites. Unfortunately, conventional broadcast encryption schemes are deemed unsuitable for such platforms since they generate an independent ciphertext for each piece of contents and hence the number of headers generated during encryption increases linearly with the size of contents. The increased number of headers will result in wasting a limited network bandwidth, which makes the application impractical. To resolve this issue, multi-channel broadcast encryption was proposed in the literature, which transmits a single header for multiple channels to several groups of viewers at a time. However, the multi-channel broadcast encryption is also impractical because it requires heavy computations, communications, and storage overheads. Moreover, it should also address additional issues, such as receiver privacy (anonymity), static user-set size, and limited encryption. In this work, we aim to tackle this problem by proposing an efficient broadcast encryption scheme, called “anonymous multi-group broadcast encryption”. This primitive achieves faster encryption and decryption, provides smaller sized public parameters, private keys, and ciphertexts. Hence, it solves the aforementioned issues of the multi-channel broadcast encryption. Specifically, the proposed scheme provides provable anonymity and confidentiality based on the External Diffie-Hellman (XDH) and \(\mathcal{P}\)-Decisional Bilinear Diffie-Hellman (DBDH) assumptions, respectively, in the standard model.
