Whispering gallery mode resonator and glucose oxidase based glucose biosensor
Inga Brice,Karlis Grundsteins,Aigars Atvars,Janis Alnis,Roman Viter,Roman Viter,Arunas Ramanavicius +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, whispering gallery mode resonators (WGMRs) were applied in new concept of glucose sensor based on the shift of WGM resonance frequency induced by enzymatic oxidation of glucose by glucose oxidase (GOx), which was immobilized on WGM-resonator surface.

Demonstration of a fiber optical communication system employing a silica microsphere-based OFC source.
Toms Salgals,Janis Alnis,Rihards Murnieks,Inga Brice,Jurgis Porins,Alexey V. Andrianov,Elena A. Anashkina,Sandis Spolitis,Vjaceslavs Bobrovs +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a silica microsphere whispering gallery mode microresonator (WGMR) OFC was designed for C-band light source where 400 GHz spaced carriers provided data transmission of up to 10 Gbps NRZ-OOK modulated signals over the standard ITU-T G.652 telecom fiber span of 20 km in length.

Whispering Gallery Mode Resonator Temperature Compensation and Refractive Index Sensing in Glucose Droplets.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate the applicability of temperature measurements using optical whispering gallery mode resonators (WGMRs) in both air and liquid environments and show that WGMR allowed measurements of the refractive index variations in an evaporating glucose-water solution droplet.

Whispering gallery mode resonators covered by a ZnO nanolayer
Inga Brice,Roman Viter,Kristians Draguns,Karlis Grundsteins,Aigars Atvars,Janis Alnis,Emerson Coy,Igor Iatsunskyi +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of the ZnO layer thickness on the Q-factor of whispering gallery mode resonators has been studied and the effect of the thickness of the layer on the performance of the resonator was investigated.
