TL;DR: In this article , a self-consistent Maxwell-Bloch model is proposed to stabilize the soliton solution in a ring quantum cascade laser. But it is not shown that a small but finite coupling between the counter-propagating waves arising from distributed backscattering is essential to stabilize soliton solutions.
