In selected embodiments a recommendation generator builds a network of interrelationships between venues, reviewers and users based on their attributes and reviewer and user reviews of the venues. Each interrelationship or link may be positive or negative and may accumulate with other links (or anti-links) to provide nodal links the strength of which are based on commonality of attributes among the linked nodes and/or common preferences that one node, such as a reviewer, expresses for other nodes, such as venues. The links may be first order (based on a direct relationship between, for instance, a reviewer and a venue) or higher order (based on, for instance, the fact that two venue are both liked by a given reviewer). The recommendation engine in certain embodiments determines recommended venues based on user attributes and venue preferences by aggregating the link matrices and determining the venues which are most strongly coupled to the user.

Systems and methods are described that calculate the interestingness of a set of one or more records in a database, either absolutely (i.e., compared to an overall collection of records) or relative to some other set of records. In one embodiment, the measure is a relative entropy value that has been normalized. Various applications of the measure are described in the context of an information retrieval system. These applications include, for example, guiding query interpretation, guiding view selection and summarization, intelligent ranges, event detection, concept triggers and interpreting user actions, hierarchy discovery, and adaptive data mining.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to, among other things, validating the integrity of received and/or stored data payloads In some examples, a storage service may perform a first partitioning of a data object into first partitions based at least in part on a first operation The storage service may also verify the data object, by utilizing a verification algorithm, to generate a first verification value In some cases, the storage service may additionally perform a second partitioning of the data object into second partitions based at least in part on a second operation The second partitions may be different from the first partitions Additionally, the archival data storage service may verify the data object using the verification algorithm to generate a second verification value Further, the storage service may determine whether the second verification value equals the first verification value

An application programming interface for a data storage service provides a convenient mechanism for clients of the data storage service to access its various capabilities. An API call may be made to initiate a job and in response a job identifier may be provided. A separate API call specifying the job identifier may be made and a response providing information related to the job may result. Various API calls may be used to store data, retrieve data, obtain an inventory of stored data, and to obtain other information relating to stored data.

The present leverages data hierarchies to provide a systematic means to determine data differences between equivalent data. This allows disparate data storage systems to efficiently determine divergent data locations by utilizing, for example, data signatures representative of varying degrees of data granularity. This allows, in one instance of the present invention, discrepant data to be determined without the transfer of large amounts of data and without requiring homogeneous data storage systems. Yet another instance of the present invention determines discrepancies of a federated and/or integrated data system by employing reversible data statistical signatures, providing a simplistic transfer protocol and sheltering each data system from the other's complexities.

On a client computer, customer relationship management software is integrated into a messaging application that includes a user interface. Customer relationship management (CRM) information is received from a server computer. An automatic determination is made as to whether the received CRM information is to be cached on the client computer. When it is determined that the CRM information is to be cached on the client computer, the CRM information is cached in a cache on the client computer. When at least some of the CRM information is cached on the client computer, the cached CRM information is displayed as a view on the client computer. The display of the CRM information is integrated into the user interface of the messaging application program.

Synchronization between email, contact management, scheduling (ECS) and customer relationship management (CRM) applications is facilitated through a synchronization module on the ECS side using an Extensible Markup Language (XML) file for keeping track of synchronization states. The changes are then pushed to the corresponding item for the columns that have changed. Last updated item is selected in case of a conflict.
