Pan‐genome and multi‐parental framework for high‐resolution trait dissection in melon (Cucumis melo)
Elad Oren,Asaf Dafna,Galil Tzuri,Ilan Halperin,Tal Isaacson,Meital Elkabetz,Ayala Meir,Uzi Saar,Shachar Ohali,Thuy La,Cinta Romay,Yaakov Tadmor,Arthur A. Schaffer,Edward S. Buckler,R Cohen,Joseph Burger,Amit Gur +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a pan-genome for Cucumis melo (C. melo) was constructed using a set of 25 diverse founders (MelonCore25), consisting of 24 accessions from the two widely cultivated subspecies of C.melo and 1 feral accession.

Underground heterosis for yield improvement in melon.
Asaf Dafna,Ilan Halperin,Ilan Halperin,Elad Oren,Elad Oren,Tal Isaacson,Galil Tzuri,Ayala Meir,Arthur A. Schaffer,Joseph Burger,Yaakov Tadmor,Edward S. Buckler,Amit Gur +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, root-mediated yield heterosis in melons (Cucumis melo) was investigated by characterizing a common variety grafted onto 190 hybrid rootstocks, resulting from crossing 20 diverse inbreds in a diallel-mating scheme.

Melon pan-genome and multi-parental framework for high-resolution trait dissection
Elad Oren,Asaf Dafna,Galil Tzuri,Ilan Halperin,Tal Isaacson,Meital Elkabetz,Ayala Meir,Uzi Saar,Shachar Ohali,Thuy La,Cinta Romay,Yaakov Tadmor,Arthur A. Schaffer,Edward S. Buckler,R Cohen,Joseph Burger,Amit Gur +16 more
TL;DR: The potential of this unified multi-parental trait dissection framework for melon genetics and breeding is presented and it is anticipated that utilization of this integrated resource will enhance genetic dissection of important traits and accelerate melon breeding.
Underground Heterosis for Melons Yield

TL;DR: In this article, root-mediated yield heterosis in Cucumis melo was investigated by characterizing common variety grafted onto 190 hybrid rootstocks resulting from crossing 20 diverse inbreds in a diallel-mating scheme.
Meta genetic analysis of melon sweetness
Galil Tzuri,Asaf Dafna,Ben Itzhaki,Ilan Halperin,Elad Oren,Tal Isaacson,Adi Faigenboim,Yelena Yeselson,Harry S Paris,Michael Mazourek,Joseph Burger,Arthur A. Schaffer,A. Gur +12 more
- 11 Mar 2025
TL;DR: This meta-genetic analysis of Cucumis melo sweetness integrates new data with published QTLs, mapping TSS and sugar QTLs, and confirming sucrose accumulation as the key variable explaining TSS variation, with additive and less-than-additive modes of inheritance.
