TL;DR: The authors argue that the implementation of neoliberal policies in sub-Saharan Africa contribute to the exposure of women to risky life-style choices that often increase their vulnerability to HIV infection, and conclude that criminologists can no longer afford to abandon the study of the lethal consequences of untrammeled capitalism to economic and development experts.
