A load driving device (100) receives input voltage from a power supply (202), and supplies electrical power to a load (200) under the control of a processor. A processor 204 carries out linked outputof a first signal (Sig1) and a second signal (Sig2), which are negated when there is a command to stop the load (200), from a first pin (P1) and a second pin (P2). An output circuit (110) supplies electrical power to the load (200). A protective switch (M2) is provided on a driving path that reaches the load (200) from the power supply (202) and returns to the power supply (202). A control circuit(130) puts the output circuit (110) in an operating state when the first signal Sig1 is asserted, and puts the output circuit (110) in a stopped state when the first signal (Sig1) is negated. Also, the control circuit (130) turns on the protective switch (M2) when the second signal (Sig2) is asserted, and turns off the protective switch (M2) when the second signal (Sig2) is negated.
