Extracorporeal Carbon Dioxide Removal Technique Improves Oxygenation without Causing Overinflation
F. Brunet,Jean-Paul Mira,M. Belghith,M Monchi,Bertrand Renaud,L. Fierobe,I. Hamy,JF Dhainaut,J Dall'Ava-Santucci +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that ECCO2R-LFPPV improves gas exchange without causing lung overinflation in a majority of patients with ARDS, despite the use of higher levels of PEEP.

TL;DR: The results indicate, that disturbances of vascular permeability can be observed very early in all trauma patients, however, in patients, developing septic complications (A), a marked hemodynamic response could be seen as well as pronounced edema formation and disturbances in gas exchange.
Permissive Hypercapnia and Intravascular Oxygenator in the Treatment of Patients with ARDS
F. Brunet,Jean-Paul Mira,C. Cerf,M. Belghith,O. Soubrane,J. L. Termignon,Bertrand Renaud,L. Fierobe,I. Hamy,M Monchi,E. Deslande,A. Brusset,JF Dhainaut +12 more
TL;DR: Testing the hypothesis that an intravascular oxygenator (IVOX) may help to perform permissive hypoventilation in 10 patients with severe ARDS found that IVOX improves tolerance of hypventilation by limiting hypercapnia in ARDS patients.

Reduction of ventilator settings allowed by intravenous oxygenator (IVOX) in ARDS patients
Jean-Paul Mira,F. Brunet,M. Belghith,O. Soubrane,J. L. Termignon,Bertrand Renaud,I. Hamy,Mehran Monchi,E. Deslande,L. Fierobe,A. Brusset,Jean-François Dhainaut +11 more
TL;DR: Gas exchange achieved by IVOX allowed reduction of ventilator settings in 6 ARDS patients in whom previous attempts have failed, and CO2 removal by the device, may explain these results.
