On deterministic sketching and streaming for sparse recovery and norm estimation
TL;DR: This work focuses on devising a fixed matrix A ∈ ℝ m×n and a deterministic recovery/estimation procedure which work for all possible input vectors simultaneously, and on proving that l ∞ /l1 sparse recovery and inner product estimation are equivalent.
Near Linear Lower Bound for Dimension Reduction in L1
Alexandr Andoni,Moses Charikar,Ofer Neiman,Huy Nguyen +3 more
- 22 Oct 2011
TL;DR: This work shows the first near linear lower bounds for dimension reduction in $\ell_{1}$, and shows that $1+\epsilon$ distortion requires at least $n^{1-O(1/\log( 1/\ep silon)$ dimensions.
Quantitative profiling of caspase-cleaved substrates reveals different drug-induced and cell-type patterns in apoptosis
Kazutaka Shimbo,Gerald W. Hsu,Huy Nguyen,Sami Mahrus,Jonathan C. Trinidad,Alma L. Burlingame,James A. Wells +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown that caspase-derived cleavage products are a sensitive reflection of cell-type and drug-induced stress, and provide useful fingerprints for mechanisms of drug action and response.
Exploiting context for biomedical entity recognition: from syntax to the web
Jenny Rose Finkel,Shipra Dingare,Huy Nguyen,Malvina Nissim,Christopher D. Manning,Gail Sinclair +5 more
- 28 Aug 2004
TL;DR: A machine learning system for the recognition of names in biomedical texts that makes extensive use of local and syntactic features within the text, as well as external resources including the web and gazetteers.
Fear Deficits in Hypomyelinated Tppp Knock-Out Mice.
Huy Nguyen,Lindsey Madsen Meservey,Nao Ishiko-Silveria,Mu Zhou,Ting-Ting Huang,Ting-Ting Huang,Meng-meng Fu +6 more
- 28 Sep 2020
TL;DR: Deficits in fear conditioning, which is a memory-dependent task, as well as in spatial memory tests, support possible short-term memory defects in Tppp KO mice, which indicate a connection between CNS myelination and behavioral deficits.
