This paper presents a new approach for third order quadrature oscillator (QO) realisation. It uses a high pass filter and differentiator connected in a feedback loop. A differential voltage current conveyor transconductance amplifier (DVCCTA) is employed to verify the proposed approach. Two circuit topologies of QO have been proposed. Both the topologies utilise two DVCCTA and three grounded capacitors. In addition, the first topology employs a single resistor while the second makes use of two resistors. The circuits exhibit orthogonal control on frequency and condition of oscillation. The quadrature current outputs are available at high output impedance and voltage outputs are also present. The theoretical proposition has been verified through SPICE simulations using 0.25 μm Taiwan semiconductor manufacturing company (TSMC) complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology parameters. Experimental results are also included which corroborate the theoretical propositions and simulated results.

Approach for third order quadrature oscillator realisation

This paper presents a possible usage of the voltage differencing transconductance amplifier (VDTA) for the design of an electronically tunable single-input five-output voltage-mode universal filter. The presented filter is constructed using two VDTAs, two capacitors and two resistors that are all grounded. The circuit simultaneously realizes lowpass (LP), bandpass (BP), highpass (HP), bandstop (BS) and allpass (AP) filtering responses, without changing the circuit topology. The circuit is capable of providing an independent electronic control of the natural angular frequency (ω
 0) and the quality factor (Q) through the transconductance gains of the VDTAs. By simply adjusting the transconductance ratio, a high-Q filter can also be obtained. Because of the high-input impedance of the circuit, it is advantageous for cascade connection. To support the theoretical analysis, the properties of the designed filter have been verified by PSPICE simulation results.

Electronically Tunable Single-Input Five-Output Voltage-Mode Universal Filter Using VDTAs and Grounded Passive Elements

Two topologies of operational transresistance (OTRA) based third order quadrature oscillators (QO) are proposed in this paper. The proposed oscillators are designed using a combination of lossy and lossless integrators. The proposed topologies can be made fully integrated by implementing the resistors using matched transistors operating in linear region, which also facilitates electronic tuning of oscillation frequency. The nonideality analysis of the circuit is also given and for high frequency applications self-compensation can be used. Workability of the proposed QOs is verified through PSPICE simulations using 0.5 μm AGILENT CMOS process parameters. The total harmonic distortion (THD) for both the QO designs is found to be less than 1%.

Novel low-voltage ultra-low-power DVCC based on floating-gate folded cascode OTA

A modified conception of adjustable current conveyor transconductance amplifier (CCTA) and its inter- esting application in simple quadrature oscillator expand- able for direct frequency modulation purposes, employing only four grounded passive elements is presented in this paper. It is quite simple solution for modern communica- tion subsystem components. An electronic adjusting of the oscillation frequency is easily possible and control of con- dition of the oscillation is realized via only one grounded resistor. The characteristic equation, condition of oscilla- tion and major parasitic influences of real active part are discussed. The verification includes PSpice simulation and measurement with the CCTA block formed by commer- cially available active elements.

Current Gain Controlled CCTA and its Application in Quadrature Oscillator and Direct Frequency Modulator

A current/voltage-mode third-order quadrature oscillator based on current differencing transconductance amplifiers (CDTAs) is presented in this paper. Outputs of two current-mode and two voltage-mode sinusoids each with 90 phase difference are available in the quadrature oscillator circuit. The oscillation condition and oscillation frequency are independently controllable. The proposed circuit employs only grounded capacitors and is ideal for integration. Simulation results are included to confirm the theoretical analysis.

Electronically tunable third-order quadrature oscillator using CDTAs

A high-input impedance voltage-mode universal biquadratic filter with one-input and five-outputs is presented. The proposed circuit uses three plus-type differential voltage current conveyors (DVCCs), two grounded capacitors and three resistors and offers the following features: the realization of all the standard filter functions, that is, high-pass, band-pass, low-pass, notch, and all-pass filters, orthogonal control of omega o and Q, the use of only grounded capacitors, high-input impedance and low active and passive sensitivities.
