Cartilage oligomeric matrix protein deficiency promotes early onset and the chronic development of collagen-induced arthritis.
Hui Geng,Stefan Carlsen,Kutty Selva Nandakumar,Rikard Holmdahl,Anders Aspberg,Anders Aspberg,Åke Oldberg,Ragnar Mattsson +7 more
TL;DR: Cartilage oligomeric matrix protein deficiency enhances the early onset and development of chronic arthritis but does not affect collagen II autoimmunity, accentuate the importance of COMP in cartilage stability.
Cartilage oligomeric matrix protein specific antibodies are pathogenic
Hui Geng,Hui Geng,Kutty Selva Nandakumar,Anna Pramhed,Anders Aspberg,Anders Aspberg,Ragnar Mattsson,Rikard Holmdahl +7 more
TL;DR: The specificities of mAbs to COMP and their contribution to the development of arthritis are identified and will further improve the understanding of the autoantibody mediated immunopathologies occurring widely in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), as well as in other autoimmune disorders.
Incomplete B Cell Tolerance to Cartilage Oligomeric Matrix Protein in Mice
TL;DR: The lack of arthritis, together with high levels of COMP-specific antibodies, in COMP-deficient mice indicates that susceptibility to arthritis is COMP specific and that endogenous expression of COMP in wild-type mice tolerizes B cells in vivo.
