Tumor Vessel Normalization by Chloroquine Independent of Autophagy
Hannelore Maes,Anna Kuchnio,Aleksandar Peric,Stijn Moens,Kris Nys,Katrien De Bock,Annelies Quaegebeur,Sandra Schoors,Maria Georgiadou,Jasper Wouters,Stefan Vinckier,Hugo Vankelecom,Marjan Garmyn,Anne-Clémence Vion,Freddy Radtke,Chantal M. Boulanger,Holger Gerhardt,Holger Gerhardt,Elisabetta Dejana,Mieke Dewerchin,Bart Ghesquière,Wim Annaert,Patrizia Agostinis,Peter Carmeliet +23 more
TL;DR: By normalizing tumor vessel structure and function and increasing perfusion, CQ reduced hypoxia, cancer cell invasion, and metastasis, while improving chemotherapy delivery and response, supporting the use of CQ for anticancer treatment.

Patient-derived organoids from endometrial disease capture clinical heterogeneity and are amenable to drug screening
Matteo Boretto,Nina Maenhoudt,Xinlong Luo,Aurélie Hennes,Bram Boeckx,Bich Bui,Bich Bui,R. Heremans,Lisa Perneel,Hiroto Kobayashi,Hiroto Kobayashi,Indra Van Zundert,Hilde Brems,Benoit Cox,Marc Ferrante,Hiroshi Uji-i,Kian Peng Koh,Thomas D'Hooghe,Arne Vanhie,Ignace Vergote,Christel Meuleman,Carla Tomassetti,Diether Lambrechts,Joris Vriens,Dirk Timmerman,Hugo Vankelecom +25 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that organoids derived from patients with various types of endometrial pathologies can model disease traits and diversity, and can be used as a drug-screening tool.

Development of organoids from mouse and human endometrium showing endometrial epithelium physiology and long-term expandability
Matteo Boretto,Benoit Cox,Manuel Noben,Nikolai Hendriks,Amelie Fassbender,Heleen Roose,Frédéric Amant,Frédéric Amant,Dirk Timmerman,Carla Tomassetti,Arne Vanhie,Christel Meuleman,Marc Ferrante,Hugo Vankelecom +13 more
TL;DR: An organoid culture system for endometrium is established, reproducing tissue epithelium physiology and allowing long-term expansion, and provides a powerful tool for studying mechanisms underlying the biology as well as the pathology of this key reproductive organ.

Production of interleukin-6 by folliculo-stellate cells of the anterior pituitary gland in a histiotypic cell aggregate culture system.
TL;DR: Reaggregate cell cultures of mouse or rat anterior pituitary were found to produce interleukin-6 (IL-6), a cytokine known for its multiple actions in the immune system, and the presence of folliculo-stellate (FS) cells was revealed to be essential for IL-6 production.

The adult pituitary contains a cell population displaying stem/progenitor cell and early embryonic characteristics.
TL;DR: The adult pituitary contains a hitherto undescribed population of cells with SP phenotype and clonal expansion capacity, which are supportive of a stem/progenitor cell phenotype.
