GreenDrive: a smartphone-based intelligent speed adaptation system with real-time traffic signal prediction
Yiran Zhao,Shen Li,Shaohan Hu,Lu Su,Shuochao Yao,Huajie Shao,Hongwei Wang,Tarek Abdelzaher +7 more
- 18 Apr 2017
TL;DR: The design and evaluation of GreenDrive, a smartphone-based system that helps drivers save fuel by judiciously advising on driving speed to match the signal phase and timing (SPAT) of upcoming signalized traffic intersections, are presented.

The Information Funnel: Exploiting Named Data for Information-Maximizing Data Collection
Shiguang Wang,Tarek Abdelzaher,Santhosh Gajendran,Ajith Herga,Sachin Kulkarni,Shen Li,Hengchang Liu,Chethan Suresh,Abhishek Sreenath,Hongwei Wang,William Dron,Alice Leung,Ramesh Govindan,John Hancock +13 more
- 26 May 2014
TL;DR: A novel transport abstraction, called the information funnel, encapsulates a data collection protocol for social sensing that maximizes a measure of delivered information utility, that is the minimized data redundancy, by diversifying the data objects to be collected.

An experimental evaluation of datacenter workloads on low-power embedded micro servers
Yiran Zhao,Shen Li,Shaohan Hu,Hongwei Wang,Shuochao Yao,Huajie Shao,Tarek Abdelzaher +6 more
- 01 May 2016
TL;DR: This paper presents a comprehensive evaluation of an ultra-low power cluster, built upon the Intel Edison based micro servers, which shows that the Edison cluster achieves up to 3.5x improvement on work-done-per-joule for web service applications and data-intensive MapReduce jobs.
StoryLine: Unsupervised Geo-event Demultiplexing in Social Spaces without Location Information
Shiguang Wang,Prasanna Giridhar,Hongwei Wang,Lance M. Kaplan,Tien Pham,Aylin Yener,Tarek Abdelzaher +6 more
- 18 Apr 2017
TL;DR: The service detects and tracks physical urban events of interest to the user, and offers an interface to client-side software that allows browsing such events in real time, as well as an interface for software applications to a structured representation of the events and their related statistics.

On Exploiting Structured Human Interactions to Enhance Sensing Accuracy in Cyber-physical Systems
Hongwei Wang,Yunlong Gao,Shaohan Hu,Shiguang Wang,Renato Mancuso,Minje Kim,Po-Liang Wu,Lu Su,Lui Sha,Tarek Abdelzaher +9 more
TL;DR: A novel workflow-aware sensing model is proposed to jointly correct unreliable sensor data and keep track of states in a workflow and a new inference algorithm to handle cases with partially known states and objects as supervision is proposed.
