Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons impair function of β2-adrenergic receptors in airway epithelial and smooth muscle cells.
Phillip Factor,Alexander T. Akhmedov,Jacob D. McDonald,Anna Qu,Jie Wu,Hong Jiang,Trisha Dasgupta,Reynold A. Panettieri,Frederica P. Perera,Rachel L. Miller +9 more
TL;DR: The hypothesis that environmentally relevant PAHs can impede β(2)AR-mediated airway relaxation is supported, and a new paradigm where air pollutants not only contribute to the pathogenesis of childhood asthma, but also diminish responsiveness to standard therapy is suggested.

Prenatal exposure to allergen, DNA methylation, and allergy in grandoffspring mice.
Megan M. Niedzwiecki,Huaijie Zhu,L. Corson,Gabriele Grunig,Sophie N. Chu,Hong Jiang,Rachel L. Miller +6 more
TL;DR: Prenatal allergen exposure has been linked to both induction and protection of allergic sensitization in offspring and alterations in CpG methylation of T‐helper genes in third‐generation mice were hypothesized to be associated with decreased immunoglobulin E and airway eosinophilia.
