The present invention provides a method for screening a therapeutic agent for cancer using cyclin B1, cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1), and retinoic acid receptor responder 1 (RARRES1), and a composition for cancer diagnosis or prognosis prediction. The present inventors have conducted an exemplary study to figure out a molecular mechanism for cancer diagnosis and prognosis prediction and have confirmed that mitotic division of cancer cells is stopped, formation of CDK1-cyclin B1 complex is inhibited, and decomposition of proteins thereof is promoted depending on a degree of binding between RARRES1 and CDK1 or cyclin B1 in a cancer-derived sample, thereby confirming that RARRES1 is an important factor in cancer diagnosis, prognosis prediction and treatment and thus is expected to be variously used for the purpose of screening a therapeutic agent for cancer and developing a drug medicine capable of decreasing a degree of binding between CDK1 and cyclin B1, increasing a degree of binding between the RARRES1 and CDK1 or cyclin B1, and decreasing stability or activity of CDK1 or cyclin B1 protein.
