Destruction of quadruplex by proteins, and its biological implications in replication and telomere maintenance
Yoshiaki Enokizono,Akimasa Matsugami,Seiichi Uesugi,Hirokazu Fukuda,Naoto Tsuchiya,Takashi Sugimura,Minako Nagao,Hitoshi Nakagama,Masato Katahira +8 more
- 01 Sep 2003
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that hnRNP A1 destroys the quadruplex of Pc-1 on binding and abrogates the arrest of DNA polymerase at the repeat and suggests the involvement of these proteins in telomere maintenance as DNA chaperons.

Correlation of the plasma level of insulin-like growth factor-1 with the number of aberrant crypt foci in male individuals.
Hirokazu Takahashi,Tetsuji Takayama,Kunihiro Hosono,Kyoko Yoneda,Hiroki Endo,Yuichi Nozaki,Koji Fujita,Masato Yoneda,Masahiko Inamori,Yasunobu Abe,Noritoshi Kobayashi,Hiroyuki Kirikoshi,Kensuke Kubota,Satoru Saito,Hitoshi Nakagama,Atsushi Nakajima +15 more
TL;DR: Elevated plasma IGF-1 may promote the growth of dysplastic ACF and play a key role in colon carcinogenesis in male individuals.

Possible Involvement of Pancreatic Fatty Infiltration in Pancreatic Carcinogenesis
TL;DR: Accumulating evidence suggests that in addition to suppression of Ras activation, methods to modulate fatty infiltration in the pancreas can be considered as a strategy for preventing pancreatic cancer.
In vivo genotoxicity of a novel heterocyclic amine, aminobenzoazepinoquinolinone-derivative (ABAQ), produced by the Maillard reaction between glucose and l-tryptophan.
Yukari Totsuka,Tetsushi Watanabe,Souleymane Coulibaly,Sae Kobayashi,Marina Nishizaki,Miho Okazaki,Tomohiro Hasei,Keiji Wakabayashi,Hitoshi Nakagama +8 more
TL;DR: The comet assay revealed that DNA damage was significantly increased in the livers, kidneys, lungs, and bone marrows of ICR mice, 3h after i.p. injection of ABAQ, and both G:C→A:T and A:T→C:G mutations were significantly increased by ABAZ.

Soy Protein Isolate Enhances Hepatic Copper Accumulation and Cell Damage in LEC Rats
Kayo Yonezawa,Sachiko Nunomiya,Mitsue Daigo,Yasumitsu Ogra,Kazuo T. Suzuki,Katsuhiko Enomoto,Hitoshi Nakagama,Kunie Yoshikawa,Minako Nagao +8 more
TL;DR: Results, including histological analyses, indicate that SPI enhances copper uptake into the liver cells and promotes liver cell damage in LEC rats, however, this did not occur in the livers of F344 rats with wild-type Atp7b.
