Factors associated with polypharmacy in elderly home-care patients.
Hitoshi Komiya,Hiroyuki Umegaki,Atsushi Asai,Shigeru Kanda,Keiko Maeda,Takuya Shimojima,Hideki Nomura,Masafumi Kuzuya +7 more

Effects of Mild Cognitive Impairment on the Development of Fear of Falling in Older Adults: A Prospective Cohort Study
Kazuki Uemura,Hiroyuki Shimada,Hyuma Makizako,Takehiko Doi,Kota Tsutsumimoto,Sangyoon Lee,Hiroyuki Umegaki,Masafumi Kuzuya,Takao Suzuki +8 more

Depletion of cholinergic neurons in the nucleus of the medial septum and the vertical limb of the diagonal band in dementia with Lewy bodies
Hiroshige Fujishiro,Hiroyuki Umegaki,Daisuke Isojima,Hiroyasu Akatsu,Akihisa Iguchi,Kenji Kosaka +5 more
TL;DR: Cholinergic neurons of the Ch1-2 regions are more severely affected in DLB than in AD, which suggests a possibility that hippocampal cholinergic projection is involved in Lewy-related neurites in the CA2–3 regions, the origin of which remains unclear.

Dopamine D2 receptor plays a role in memory function: implications of dopamine-acetylcholine interaction in the ventral hippocampus.
Hiroshige Fujishiro,Hiroyuki Umegaki,Yusuke Suzuki,Shinobu Oohara-Kurotani,Yoko Yamaguchi,Akihisa Iguchi +5 more
TL;DR: Results indicate the possible involvement of hippocampal ACh–DA interaction in mnemonic processing.

Effects of a low-carbohydrate diet on glycemic control in outpatients with severe type 2 diabetes.
TL;DR: The 30%-carbohydrate diet over 6 months led to a remarkable reduction in HbA1c levels, even among outpatients with severe type 2 diabetes, without any insulin therapy, hospital care or increase in sulfonylureas.
