HLA-B locus in Japanese patients with anti-epileptics and allopurinol-related Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.
Nahoko Kaniwa,Yoshiro Saito,Michiko Aihara,Kayoko Matsunaga,Masahiro Tohkin,Kouichi Kurose,Jun-ichi Sawada,Hirokazu Furuya,Yukitoshi Takahashi,Masaaki Muramatsu,Shigeru Kinoshita,Masamichi Abe,Hiroko Ikeda,Mariko Kashiwagi,Yixuan Song,Mayumi Ueta,Chie Sotozono,Zenro Ikezawa,Ryuichi Hasegawa +18 more
TL;DR: While HLA-B*1502 is unlikely to be associated with carbamazepine-related or aromatic anti-epileptic agent-related SJS/TEN in Japanese, HLA*5801 was significantly associated with allopurinol- related S JS/T EN in Japanese.

STXBP1 mutations cause not only Ohtahara syndrome but also West syndrome--result of Japanese cohort study.
Motoko Otsuka,Hirokazu Oguni,Jao-Shwann Liang,Hiroko Ikeda,Katsumi Imai,Kyoko Hirasawa,Kaoru Imai,Emiko Tachikawa,Keiko Shimojima,Makiko Osawa,Toshiyuki Yamamoto +10 more
TL;DR: This is the first case report showing that STXBP1 mutations caused West syndrome from the onset of epilepsy, and should be considered as an etiology of symptomatic West syndrome without explainable cause.

Jun Mine,Yukitoshi Takahashi,Yuki Mogami,Hiroko Ikeda,Yuko Kubota,Katsumi Imai +5 more
- 01 Jan 2013
TL;DR: It is indicated that the frontal lobes are susceptible to rapid epileptogenesis after IAE, and that epileptic partial seizures after I AE had characteristics resembling generalized seizures.

Antibodies to glutamate receptor in limbic encephalitis
TL;DR: In NHALE patients with ovarian teratoma, antibodies to NR recognize epitopes on GluRepsilon2 (NR2B) and GluRtheta1 (NR1) and pathophysiology of antibodies against NR is estimated to cause internalization of NR on surface of neurons, resulting in inhibition of NR function.

Surgical strategy for refractory epilepsy secondary to porencephaly: ictal SPECT may obviate the need for intracranial electroencephalography. Patient series
Naoki Ichikawa,Naotaka Usui,Akihiko Kondo,Takayasu Tottori,Tokito Yamaguchi,Hirowo Omatsu,Takayoshi Koike,Hiroko Ikeda,Katsumi Imai,Yukitoshi Takahashi +9 more
- 24 May 2021
TL;DR: Thorough noninvasive evaluations, including FDG-PET and ictal SPECT, enabled curative surgery without intracranial EEG and confirmed the side of seizure origin when electroclinical findings were inconclusive.
