Inhibition by ginsenoside Rg3 of bombesin-enhanced peritoneal metastasis of intestinal adenocarcinomas induced by azoxymethane in Wistar rats
Hiroyasu Iishi,Masaharu Tatsuta,Miyako Baba,Hiroyuki Uehara,Akihiko Nakaizumi,Kiyoko Shinkai,Hitoshi Akedo,Hiroko Funai,Shingo Ishiguro,Isao Kitagawa +9 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that ginsenoside Rg3 inhibits cancer metastasis through activities that do not affect the growth or vascularity of intestinal cancers.

Expression of nucleoside diphosphate kinase/nm23 gene product in human pancreatic cancer: an association with lymph node metastasis and tumor invasion
Shoji Nakamori,Osamu Ishikawa,Hiroaki Ohhigashi,Masao Kameyama,Hiroshi Furukawa,Yo Sasaki,Hideo Inaji,Masahiko Higashiyama,Shingi Imaoka,Takeshi Iwanaga,Hiroko Funai,Akira Wada,Narimichi Kimura +12 more
TL;DR: Results showed that NDP kinase/nm23 expression in human pancreatic cancer is positively associated with lymph node metastasis or perineural invasion and with poor prognosis, and suggest that NDP Kinase may play an important role in cancer progression or aggressiveness by altering its expression in a tissue-specific manner.

Demonstration and diagnostic significance of pro-gastrin-releasing peptide in medullary thyroid carcinoma.
Hideo Inaji,Yoshifumi Komoike,Kazuyoshi Motomura,Masahiko Higashiyama,Minoru Ohtsuru,Hiroko Funai,Tsutomu Kasugai,Hiroki Koyama +7 more
TL;DR: Results show that proGRP, which is considered to be a specific marker for small-cell lung carcinoma, may be also a potential tumor marker for MTC, in addition to CT and CEA.

Expression of smooth muscle calponin in synovial sarcoma.
Hidefumi Ono,Hideki Yoshikawa,Takafumi Ueda,Hisako Yamamura,Ikuo Kudawara,Masayuki Manou,Shingo Ishiguro,Hiroko Funai,Yumiko Koyanagi,Nobuhito Araki,Nobuyuki Hashimoto,Hiroshi Sonobe,Masaharu Tatsuta,Katsuhito Takahashi +13 more
TL;DR: The basic calponin may have potential utility as a novel molecular marker identifying certain synovial sarcomas, suggesting a lineage relationship between synovia cells and smooth muscle-like mesenchymal cells.
Expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in normal pituitary cells and pituitary adenomas producing adrenocorticotropic hormone.
Takashi Yamamoto,Yasuko Nishizawa,Motomu Tsuji,Youichi Saitoh,Hiroko Funai,Tatsuya Hirai,Ayako Sugihara,Tohru Tsujimura,Yasuo Nakata,Shingo Ishiguro,Nobuyuki Terada +10 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that VEGF is produced by normal pituitary cells and adenomas producing ACTH, and that almost all cells staining positively for ACTH also stained for V EGF.
