Characterization of DNA Polymerase from Pyrococcus sp. Strain KOD1 and Its Application to PCR
Masahiro Takagi,Motomu Nishioka,Hirofumi Kakihara,Masao Kitabayashi,Hiroaki Inoue,Bunsei Tsuruga-shi Kawakami,Masanori Oka,Tadayuki Imanaka +7 more
TL;DR: The mature form of the DNA polymerase gene was expressed in Escherichia coli, and the recombinant enzyme was purified and characterized, and it exhibited an extension rate 5 times higher and a processivity 10 to 15 times higher than those of PfuDNA polymerase.

Mapping of autosomal male-determining factors of the housefly, Musca domestica L., by means of sex-reversal
TL;DR: It is proposed that AM factors are located in the centric heterochromatin of the housefly, and that they occupy a definite site on the respective chromosomes.

A maternal-effect sex-transformation mutant of the housefly, musca domestica l
Hiroaki Inoue,Toshiki Hiroyoshi +1 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the tra(+) gene product is required for female determination and/or differentiation in Musca domestica and discussed in relation to sex-determination mechanisms in several other insect species.

High-Intensity Neutron Generation via Laser-Driven Photonuclear Reaction
Yasunobu Arikawa,Masaru Utsugi,Morace Alessio,Takahiro Nagai,Yuki Abe,Sadaoki Kojima,Shohei Sakata,Hiroaki Inoue,Shinsuke Fujioka,Zhe Zhang,Hui Chen,J. Park,Jackson Williams,Taichi Morita,Yoichi Sakawa,Yoshiki Nakata,Junji Kawanaka,Takahisa Jitsuno,Nobuhiko Sarukura,Noriaki Miyanaga,Mitsuo Nakai,Hiroyuki Shiraga,Hiroaki Nishimura,Hiroshi Azechi +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, high-peak-intensity neutrons were generated from a 1 mm sized gold target using the Laser for Fast Ignition Experiments (LFEX) at Osaka University.

A male-determining factor on autosome 1 and occurrence of male-recombination in the housefly, Musca domestica L,
Hiroaki Inoue,Toshiki Hiroyoshi +1 more
TL;DR: Linkage analyses of sex-determining factors in a Fijian housefly strain, Suva Dump Fiji (SDF), were performed by using genetically marked autosomes, finding that XX males heterozygous for the IM-chromosome extracted from the SDF strain and a acv bp marker chromosome produced recombinants that seemed to be the resultants of male crossing-over at the meiotic cell stage.
