This revised and updated version of his classic book continues that tradition with its focus on what educators must do to foster learning that will enhance individual lives and foster informed and thoughtful citizens. Fink's central idea is that education will not improve until educators step down from the lecture podium to walk with and among their learners, to collaborate in designing learning experiences. He argues that the most effective way for individuals to do this is by developing instructional design skills grounded in active and experiential learning theories and methods. On one level, Fink targets individual educators from all disciplines who desire to make a significant change to their teaching practice, and on another level, he relates to groups interested in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), professional development and instructional design. Fink's scholarship and insight make this an excellent resource on both levels.Fink organized his book into seven chapters. The first two focus on the need for change in postsecondary education. He then defines "significant learning experiences" and introduces his taxonomy as a means to provide grounded theories and concepts for action. Chapters 3 and 4 puts his taxonomy to use with practical language that details integrated course design concepts and tools. Chapter 5 provides a case study as well as other examples from educators who improved their practice by using Fink's taxonomy and course design model. Chapter 6 explores what front-line educators need to make significant learning experiences the new norm. Fink ends this book with a conversation about what education could become if the idea of "significant learning experiences" became the goal.Fink defines significant learning experiences as those that result in something truly significant in the learner's life. For this to happen, learning experiences must go beyond fostering understanding and the ability to remodel discipline- related information, they must connect the course content with the learner's life in such a way that the learner will draw upon past experiences to connect the content with new ideas and new future learning. Smart buildings play a crucial role toward decarbonizing society, as globally buildings emit about one-third of greenhouse gases. In the last few years, machine learning has achieved a notable momentum that, if properly harnessed, may unleash its potential for advanced analytics and control of smart buildings, enabling the technique to scale up for supporting the decarbonization of the building sector. In this perspective, transfer learning aims to improve the performance of a target learner exploiting knowledge in related environments. The present work provides a comprehensive overview of transfer learning applications in smart buildings, classifying and analyzing 77 papers according to their applications, algorithms, and adopted metrics. The study identified four main application areas of transfer learning: (1) building load prediction, (2) occupancy detection and activity recognition, (3) building dynamics modeling, and (4) energy systems control. Furthermore, the review highlighted the role of deep learning in transfer learning applications that has been used in more than half of the analyzed studies. The paper also discusses how to integrate transfer learning in a smart building’s ecosystem, identifying, for each application area, the research gaps and guidelines for future research directions.

This research applied a mixed-method design to explore how best to promote learning in authentic contexts in an online graduate course in instructional message design. The students used Twitter apps on their mobile devices to collect, share, and comment on authentic design examples found in their daily lives. The data sources included tweets (i.e., postings on Twitter), students’ perceptions about mobile microblogging activities, and self-reported Twitter usage. Based on the tweet analysis, we found that the students appropriately applied the design principles and design terms in their critique of design examples. While the students were mainly engaged in assignment-relevant activities, they spontaneously generated social tweets as they related peers’ authentic design examples to their own life experiences. Overall, they had positive perceptions toward the mobile microblogging activities. The students also indicated that the design examples shared by peers through mobile microblogging inspired their own message design work. We synthesized instructional design suggestions and challenges for educators interested in incorporating mobile microblogging in their instructional settings.

Mobile microblogging: Using Twitter and mobile devices in an online course to promote learning in authentic contexts

The advancement of technology has made many things possible with innovations always coming every day, in the field of accounting the use of accounting applications as a tool to assist accountants is very detrimental. Accountants use these applications as a necessity which is why there is a need to study and improve accounting applications, to accomplish this we used the Extended Technology Acceptance Model Integrated with DeLone & McLean IS Success model, this model gives a much more detailed explanation of each factor from the model. We gathered 115 respondents that are accountants from Jakarta with experience, the result shows that the system, user interface, and ease of use is an important factor that affects the accountant’s level of acceptance towards an accounting application, and the convenience of an accounting application isn’t a factor that would affect the users level of acceptance. We hope that this research would benefit everyone connected with accounting applications from the developers to the users, so everyone especially people in the financial and economic sector benefits greatly.

This article discusses the Information System (IS) strategic planning for a naval hospital in Indonesia. Its purpose is to improve competitive advantage among hospitals through the addition of new services and products that would lead to improvements in the current patient services. The merging of Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and Laboratory Information System (LIS) into a single network with a concept of telemedicine is the main topic of this article. The hospital's website is also developed with medical tourism in mind, which attracts more patients, generating more revenue for the hospital.

Improving Early Cancer Detection Knowledge through Mobile Learning Application

Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework was utilized in this study. Its purpose was to determine the correlation between independent variables consisting of Perceived Ease of Use (PEU), Perceived Usefulness (PU), Attitude toward Using (AU) with dependent variable Behavioral Intention to Use (BIU). Data collection techniques were carried out by distributing questionnaires through group discussion forums. Respondents consisted of medical workers and health cadres both in Jakarta and Yogyakarta. Data were analyzed using correlation test and t-test. The results of the correlation test state that the correlation between PEU and AU is 0.30, which shows a weak correlation. Meanwhile, the correlation of PU and AU is 0.56, PEU and BIU is 0.41, and PU and BIU is 0.47, which are considered as moderate correlations. Finally, a strong correlation exists between AU and BIU. T-test results show that the effect of PU on AU is statistically significant with CI = 95%. Likewise, the effects of PEU on AU, AU towards BIU, PU towards BIU, and PEU towards BIU are significant (p < 0.05).

Investment decisions are policies in allocating funds into profitable forms of investment that have a long-term temporal dimension, therefore choices made now need to be carefully addressed because they will have an impact down the road. Investor behavior in making investment decisions is often influenced by several psychological factors such as social factors and cognitive factors which cause investors' actions to become irrational. This research was conducted to examine how prospects, herding, and heuristics affect investment choices in online trading. This research is quantitative causal research. The subject of this research are investors who invest using online trading applications. The data analyzed is primary data. Respondents are given questionnaires as part of the data gathering process. The sample collection method is nonprobability sampling, convenience sampling. Smart PLS 4 software is utilized to do partial least squares for structural equation modeling as a data analysis tool. Our study's findings indicate that heuristic behavior, herding behavior and prospect can have significant influence on investors' decisions on online trading.
