Long-Term Outcomes of Carotid Artery Stenting in Clinical Practice
Harald Mudra,Stephan Staubach,Ralph Hein-Rothweiler,Manuela Segerer,Henning Strohm,Hannes Weber,Jakob Ledwoch +6 more
TL;DR: An all-comer registry with a strict, prospectively designed, follow-up protocol, including an independent pre- and postprocedural neurological assessment, concludes that long-term stroke prevention by carotid artery stenting is effective in experienced centers.

Validation of Multiparametric Ultrasonography Criteria with Digital Subtraction Angiography in Carotid Artery Disease: A Prospective Multicenter Study.
Kristian Barlinn,Henning Rickmann,Hagen H. Kitzler,Christos Krogias,Henning Strohm,Andrij Abramyuk,Jessica Barlinn,Timo Siepmann,Ali Rabahi,Xina Graehlert,Uta Schwanebeck,Simon Winzer,Sebastian Arnold,Peter Moennings,Lars-Peder Pallesen,Ulf Bodechtel,Harald Mudra,Jennifer Linn,Heinz Reichmann,Andrei V. Alexandrov,Georg Gahn,Norbert Weiss,Volker Puetz +22 more
TL;DR: At laboratories experienced with ultrasound grading of the extracranial ICA, the revised DEGUM multiparametric ultrasonography criteria do not eliminate the need for a confirmatory test for the identification of clinically relevant grades of the disease.
Incidence and risk factors of embolized particles in carotid artery stenting and association with clinical outcome
TL;DR: In the vast majority of CAS procedures particles could be retrieved from the EPDs used, procedural characteristics such as stent type and stent length were associated with larger particles, and longer stents and use of Acculink stent were found to be independent predictors for particle diameter.

Carotid artery stenting in clinical practice depending on patient age.
TL;DR: The age‐dependent outcome of carotid artery stenting outside of randomized controlled trials is largely unknown and acute and long‐term results of CAS in a single‐center real‐world registry are assessed.

Short- and long-term outcome after carotid artery stenting with neuroprotection: single-center experience within a prospective registry.
Christoph H. Spes,Andreas Schwende,Florian Beier,Martin Hug,Ralph Hein,Henning Strohm,Wolfgang Büchele,Mathias C. Haufe,Harald Mudra +8 more
TL;DR: Carotid artery stenting with the general use of neuroprotective devices yields acceptable shortterm results with respect to neurological events, particularly in asymptomatic patients, and a good long-term neurologic outcome.
