It has been discovered that improved yields of engineered tissue following implantation, and engineered tissue having enhanced mechanical strength and flexibility or pliability, can be obtained by implantation, preferably subcutaneously, of a fibrous polymeric matrix for a period of time sufficient to obtain ingrowth of fibrous tissue and/or blood vessels, which is the removed for subsequent implantation at the site where the implant is desired. The matrix is optionally seeded prior to the first implantation, after ingrowth of the fibrous tissue, or at the time of reimplantation. The time required for fibrous ingrowth typically ranges from days to weeks. The method is particularly useful in making valves and tubular structures, especially heart valves and blood vessels.

A compact auxiliary circuit modifies the operation of a low-voltage control circuit associated with an electronic dimming gas discharge lamp ballast. The auxiliary circuit modifies the output of the control circuit to reduce the brightness of the lamps when excess ambient light is available, and increases the brightness of the lamps as available ambient light is reduced. The auxiliary circuit is located in a small housing which mounts in a knockout plug of a fluorescent ceiling fixture. In a preferred embodiment, the auxiliary circuit includes a photocell that obtains information on ambient light levels through an ambient light gathering prism mounted through a ceiling tile near the fixture, and connected to the circuit housing by a flexible fiber optic cable. A single auxiliary circuit according to the invention can be connected to vary the brightness of a large number of lamps.

The invention discloses a rotor structure of an exciter. The rotor structure comprises a rotor core and a rectifying disc, wherein the rectifying disc comprises a first mounting disc and a second mounting disc which are parallel; the rotor core is arranged between the first mounting disc and the second mounting disc, and the two end surfaces of the rotor core simultaneously and respectively cling to the surfaces of the first mounting disc and the second mounting disc; the first mounting disc, the second mounting disc and the rotor core are fixed through a fastening device. The rotor structure mainly comprises the rotor core and the rectifying disc, and the rectifying disc adopts a split type structure and comprises the first mounting disc and the second mounting disc, so that the rotor core can be arranged between the first mounting disc and the second mounting disc, and the rotor core, the the first mounting disc and the second mounting disc are tightly pressed, and are fixed into a whole under the action of the fastening device. Thus, the rotor structure can be assembled before being sleeved on a shaft and is mounted on a rotating shaft at the same time, and the axial space of a rotor is also saved.

A rotatable shaft has a roller electrode mounted on it for rotation therewith. A transformer and a rectifier are structurally integrated to form a unit which is also mounted on the shaft for rotation with it, and serve to convert high-voltage low-amperage net current into low-voltage high-amperage DC current. Slip rings are mounted on the shaft to transmit electrical current to the unit for supply to the roller electrode.
