A word-guessing game is described. This game comprises stacks of cards, each of these cards having predetermined words thereon, and each of these stacks having different point values according to the difficulty of the words therein. Players work from pads containing sheets having the letters of the alphabet and scoring areas thereon. After deciding on the point value desired, cards are selected from the appropriate stack and each player attempts to determine the word by eliminating letters to achieve a scrambled version of the word. The scrambed version must then be unscrambled by the appropriate player in order to achieve their point value.

Word forming by elimination game

An apparatus and method for a board game that includes a game board and game pieces for placement on the game board during game play. The game pieces have letters, phonic symbols, wild card symbols, or other language symbols or indicia on both sides of the pieces that are in different colors corresponding to the two players but which show the same letter or symbol on both sides. The game board of the preferred embodiment includes a grid arrangement of spaces of a size and shape to permit the game pieces to be laid on the grid spaces. Words or phrases are spelled out by the arrangement of game pieces on the game board, the words or phrases being formed by game pieces in straight lines. The game pieces are placed on the game board by the players during turns and if one or more words or phrases are formed by the just-placed letters or language symbols in conjunction with other game pieces on the board, the player placing the most recently played game piece owns all the game pieces in the new words or phrases. Ownership of the game pieces is indicated by flipping any opponent game pieces over to display the color of the player who's turn it is. The game is won by determining which player has the most pieces on the board at the end of the game.

Word spelling and word crossing board game

A game and method of playing the same is characterized by offensive strategy having an object of occupying a majority of designated goal space(s). The game comprises a board defined by spaces arranged, in part, as a grid. One or more of the spaces is visually distinguishable from the others as a goal space. Players may take turns in sequence placing a tile from their respective decks of such tiles on a space on the board. Tiles may comprise one or more movement indicators which enable a player to move tiles already occupying a space on the board into an adjacent unoccupied space, and further prevent a player from moving certain tiles already occupying a space on the board. When a game ending event occurs, the player whose tiles occupy the most goal spaces may be deemed the winner.

Game and method of playing the same

The invention relates to a word-forming game kit which contains a playing board bearing a grid of rectangles, a number of blank playing tiles and a number of lettered playing tiles which together represent most or all of the alphabet. Each lettered playing tile has on at least one face a minimum of two different letters of the alphabet and may bear up to six letters of the alphabet. The game kit is used to play a cross-word type game in which all the rectangles in the grid are filled by the end of the game. The game is won by the player who can claim the greatest number of tiles at close of play.
