Systems and methods are described herein for enabling users to select from available secure service providers (each having a Trusted Service Manager (“TSM”)) for provisioning applications and services on a secure element installed on a device of the user. The device includes a service provider selector (“SPS”) module that provides a user interface for selecting the secure service provider. In one embodiment, the SPS communicates with a key escrow service that maintains cryptographic keys for the secure element and distributes the keys to the user selected secure service provider. The key escrow service also revokes the keys from deselected secure service providers. In another embodiment, the SPS communicates with a central TSM that provisions applications and service on behalf of the user selected secure service provider. The central TSM serves as a proxy between the secure service providers and the secure element.

Enabling Users to Select Between Secure Service Providers Using a Central Trusted Service Manager

Systems, methods, computer programs, and devices are disclosed herein for deploying a local trusted service manager within a secure element of a contactless smart card device. The secure element is a component of a contactless smart card incorporated into a contactless smart card device. An asymmetric cryptography algorithm is used to generate public-private key pairs. The private keys are stored in the secure element and are accessible by a trusted service manager (TSM) software application or a control software application in the secure element. A non-TSM computer with access to the public key encrypts and then transmits encrypted application data or software applications to the secure element, where the TSM software application decrypts and installs the software application to the secure element for transaction purposes.

Systems and methods are described herein for supporting end users of a mobile device, such as a mobile phone, to reset a secure element associated with the communication device. The reset process may include clearing the secure element, associated memories, and storage devices of any user specific or personalized information associated with the user. The reset process may also include removing or resetting keys or other identifiers within the secure element that associate the mobile device with a particular secure service provider. According to various embodiments, a computer-implemented method for resetting a secure element within a network device may include receiving an encrypted reset request message at the secure element, decrypting the encrypted reset request message using a communication key, verifying authorization for the reset request message, and atomically clearing parameters associated with the secure element.

Communication between a software application midlet of a contactless payment device and a control applet resident within a secure element of the contactless payment device includes selecting, on the software application midlet, a card applet to configure from a registered list of card applets, the list comprising application identifiers (AIDs) of card applets resident in the secure element; transmitting, through a secure channel, to the control applet on the secure element, the selected card applet's AID and an instruction for a selected function to be performed on the selected card applet; invoking, by the control applet, process method function calls of a card runtime environment, wherein the process method function calls are defined by the card issuer or the card runtime environment for performing the selected function on the selected card applet; and rendering the process method function calls, thereby performing the selected function on the selected card applet.

An application may be configured by different originators differently based on sets of defined data groups and/or data structures from which the originator may select in implementing the application. Multiple applications of different types such as financial, health, transportation, etc. may be configured on user media to provide related services.

Data groups may be classified into fixed and dynamic data groups, wherein the dynamic data groups may be further subclassified into parallel, circular, and alternate data groups to apply anti-tearing differently, such as based on the type of data element involved. A valid record list may be implemented for tracking current valid information.
