The role of business incubators and the impact of their incubation programs have limited realization in nurturing entrepreneurship and industrialization. To foster rural development in developing areas whose population depends on agriculture requires a sustainable model which can nurture firms in the sector. This qualitative case study used ten selected business incubators that support firms in the agriculture sector to analyze how rural development can be fostered. Triangulate sampling and data collection were used, and interpretative analysis shows that most incubators are in-house, operated by the Government in the manufacturing sector. The leading roles played by incubators include providing managerial advice, accessible finance and facilities, and business advice, facilitating the export of vegetables and fruits, linkage and networking, and accessible markets. Business incubators in the agriculture sector play a significant role in nurturing start-ups, creating job opportunities, and positively impacting the economy. Therefore, it is crucial for developing countries like Tanzania to include business incubators in their policies and strategic plans.

Small and medium enterprise is one of the main important drivers of a market nation and economist have underlined the crucial task acting in the market development. This research aims to analyze the success factors for SMEs in Melaka. This research will be practicable for SMEs companies. This research also created to help the SMEs companies to determine their success factors to become success. It is because many of them are stuck in half of their ways in their business. Questionnaire method has been choosing in this method because it is more convenience as the data gets directly from respondent. Finally, the researcher hope that the research made can help the SMEs in their business especially for SME to success. Besides, this also may impart to the entrepreneurs themselves to improve the success ratio in their business. The future research may investigate the result of this study throughout a large-scale within and cross cases research method. This may also focus on the different geographical region in Malaysia or within each of the other developing countries.

Factors Affecting Business Success Of Small And Medium Entreprises (SMEs) In Melaka

In this chapter, we begin with the motivating question: How can firms in rural areas be organized to foster development and transformation by commercializing their activities? In developing countries, the business environment in rural areas has limited amenities and infrastructure. Firms in such areas have limited capabilities to solely commercialize their activities. To create value and capture a sizable value from activities, firms should redefine their Industry Architecture (IA): who does what, and who gets what? And change their business model from transactional to collaborative or ecosystem. The chapter informs stakeholders in rural development on significant steps and measures to be taken to structure a viable and commercial business ecosystem. Also, the theoretical contribution to fostering rural development and transformation by changing the Industry Architecture, Value Chain, and Business Ecosystems is remarkable. The chapter concludes by proposing firms work together to gain an architectural advantage: Maximizing the complementarity and mobility of assets.

Perspective Chapter: Business Ecosystems – A Structure to Commercialize Value Chain of Rural Economies in Developing Areas

Purpose: This study investigated the promotion of rural entrepreneurship in Tanzania through empowering Voluntary Financial Saving Groups (VFSGs). Specifically, the study examined practices adopted by VFSGs and challenges confronting such VFSGs. Design/Methodology/Approach: A cross-sectional study using qualitative and quantitative approaches was carried out using a sample of 262 members of VFSGs that was selected using proportionate stratified sampling from different strata. The study was conducted in the Iringa region, whereas the Iringa and Kilolo districts were purposefully selected. Questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions were employed as data collection methods. Qualitative data analysis was carried out using content analysis. Descriptive statistics were adopted for quantitative data analysis, whereas mean scores were performed, followed by ranking. Research Limitation: This study was limited to one geographical region, Iringa, with only two districts, Iringa and Kilolo. The limitation was attributed to limited time and financial resources to cover a wider scope. Findings: Major findings of the study regarding practices adopted by VFSGs included inadequate training on enterprise development and management for members of VFSGs and inadequate seriousness to punish loan defaulters. Further, major findings about challenges facing VFSGs were the small amount of loans provided to members, inadequate business training to members, late loan repayment, the high dropout rate of members, unfavourable entrepreneurial cultures among members, conflict emerging among members and poor attendance in a meeting among members of VFSGs. Practical implications: The study concludes that skills gaps and loan defaulters in VFSGs are practices that are less adopted. This calls for intervention through entrepreneurship and business training and further longitudinal studies to establish behavioural change over time after intervention. Social Implication: Policies should mandate the provision of business training to VFSGs before they receive loans from money lenders. They should also focus on reducing mobile money transactional charges to fuel technology usage among VFSGs. Originality: The empirical data gathered from various regions in rural Tanzania adds valuable, real-world evidence to the discourse on VFSGs and rural entrepreneurship. This data-driven approach strengthens the credibility and relevance of the study's conclusions and recommendations.
