Lipids are essential fatty acids. Lipids function as a source of energy and structural constituent components of Japanese quails. Japanese quail ( Coturnix coturnix japonica ) is one of the livestock sectors that is efficient in providing nutrients, both from eggs and meat. However, this animal has high cholesterol levels. This study aimed to determine the effect of organic feed on the cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL (High Density Lipoprotein), and LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) level of Japanese quail. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD). The test animals were 30 females Japanese quail which were divided into 3 groups (2 individuals each) with different treatments i.e. P0: control (commercial feed); P1: standard organic feed (corn, soybean, bran and fish meal); P2: special organic feed (corn, soybean, bran, fish meal, cassava leaves, turmeric and ginger powder). Each treatment consisted of 5 replications. Feed was given for 2 months and at the end of the treatment, the blood was collected for analysis. Data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan test with a confidence of 95% (I±=0.05). Analysis was performed using SPSS software 16.0 for windows. The results showed that the effect of organic feed containing cassava leaves, turmeric and ginger powder is significantly different on live weight, and not significantly different on feed consumption and drinking consumption. Moreover, the provision of that special organic feed was able to stabilize the cholesterol and HDL levels, and reduce LDL levels in Japanese quail ( Coturnix coturnix japonica ).

The Effect of Turmeric and Ginger Powder on Japanese Quail (Coturnix coturnix) Serum Lipid Profile

Pre-diabetic is a disease that is caused by insulin resistance, which is identified by higher blood glucose levels than normal. Turmeric ( Curcuma longa L.) contains curcumin compounds that act as antioxidants to prevent damage from free radicals and to repair damaged kidney tissue from pre-diabetic condition. Organic quail eggs are supplements that can help to repair kidney tissue. This study investigated the effect of turmeric powder and organic quail eggs on pre-diabetic kidney tissue histopathology of male white rats. Twenty-five male white rats ( Rattus norvegicus L.) were used in this study and they were divided into 5 treatment groups, namely D0 (normal white rats were given standard diet), D1 (positive control, pre-diabetic white rats were given standard diet), D2 (pre-diabetic white rats were given turmeric powder 1.35 mg/head/day), D3 (pre-diabetic white rats were given 1 organic quail egg/head/day), and D4 (pre-diabetic white rats were given turmeric powder 1.35 mg/head/day and 1 organic quail egg/head/day). This research was done within 60 days. The results of the study were analysed using the ANOVA and Duncan tests. The analysis results showed that turmeric powder and organic quail eggs treatments had a significant effect on the observed parameters. The conclusion of this study is that the effect of turmeric powder and organic quail eggs has the potential to repair the kidney tissue of pre-diabetic white rats.

Histopathology of Pre-diabetic White Rat (Rattus norvegicus L.) Renal After Treatment with Turmeric Powder and Organic Quail Eggs

The purpose of this research is to know the status of the Leukocyte differential leukocyte and rats (Rattus norvegicus L.)  lactation period after the grant of a supplement to the quail eggs are organic. This research is a type of experimental research with Random Design complete using 4 treatments and 5 replicates. The data obtained were analyzed with Anova, if there is a real difference continued test Duncan at 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). Analysis with the software SPSS 16.0 for windows. T0: Control Treatment; T1: (Rattus norvegicus L.) lactation period were given supplements of the eggs produced by quail fed commercial feed; T2: (Rattus norvegicus L.) lactation period were given supplements of the eggs produced by a given organic feed quail standard; T3: (Rattus norvegicus L.) lactation period were given supplements of the eggs produced by quail fed organic feed. Based on the number of leukocytes results showed different results real (P 0.05), whereas the number of lymphocytes showed different results real (P < 0.05). Supplementation of organic quail eggs could be maintain the condition Leukocyte status in the lactation period of (Rattus norvegicus L.).
