Equilibria in the fibrinogen-fibrin conversion. IX. Effects of calcium ions on the reversible polymerization of fibrin monomer.
TL;DR: An investigation was made of the role of calcium ions in the reversible stage of fibrin polymerization, using a direct and relatively simple approach, and it was concluded that the proton release at pH 5.3 was due mainly to binding of calcium ion to fibr inogen and fibrIn monomer.

Effect of side chain-backbone electrostatic interactions on the stability of alpha-helices.
TL;DR: An apparent discrepancy between the observed stability of the C-peptide alpha-helix of ribonuclease A and that computed from the Zimm-Bragg parameters sigma and s (obtained by the host-guest technique) is resolved.

Determination of side‐chain‐rotamer and side‐chain and backbone virtual‐bond‐stretching potentials of mean force from AM1 energy surfaces of terminally‐blocked amino‐acid residues, for coarse‐grained simulations of protein structure and folding. II. Results, comparison with statistical potentials, and implementation in the UNRES force field
TL;DR: In this paper, the AM1-derived and statistical virtual-bond-deformation potentials of 19 natural amino-acid residues with side chains were derived using analytical formulas and implemented in the UNRES mesoscopic dynamics program.

Conformationalstudy of [leu5]‐enkephalin by laser raman spectroscopy
TL;DR: The Raman spectrum of [Leu5]-enkephalin in the solid state indicates the presence of a type I' beta bend, in agreement with X-ray data of Smith & Griffin (1978).
