Effect of protein disulfide isomerase on the rate-determining steps of the folding of bovine pancreatic ribonuclease A.
TL;DR: The results indicate that PDI catalyzes the conversion of the kinetically trapped intermediates by reshuffling them into the on‐pathway intermediate, and the formation of native protein, by acting as both a chaperone and an oxidase on this on‐ pathway intermediate.

Shielding effects of the D-Phe aromatic ring in the 1H NMR spectrum of gramicidin S
Ian D. Rae,Harold A. Scheraga +1 more
TL;DR: Analysis of the side-chain coupling constants for the D-Phe residue of gramicidin S shows that the rotamer predicted for the minimum-energy structure is the predominant one, and the calculated shielding closely matches that found in the 1 H NMR spectrum.

Prediction of the packing arrangement of strands in beta-sheets of globular proteins.
TL;DR: A method is proposed for predicting the adjacency order in which strands pack in a β-sheet in a protein, on the basis of its amino acid sequence alone, based on the construction of a predicted contact map for the protein.
