A highly sensitive isotope-coded derivatization method and its application for the mass spectrometric analysis of analytes containing the carboxyl group.
TL;DR: The high abundance product ions from d(0)-/d(6)-DMPP labeled carboxylic acids indicate high efficiency of the gas-phase cleavage induced by the labeling reagent, and can be used in single reaction monitoring to achieve extremely high sensitivity toward the target analytes.

N-Alkylpyridinium isotope quaternization for matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization Fourier transform mass spectrometric analysis of cholesterol and fatty alcohols in human hair.
TL;DR: This study combines the direct pyridinium quaternization with MALDI-FTMS, which offers a perspective and an alternative tool for the identification and quantification of substances in biological matrix by comparing d(0)/d(5) pairs, especially when isotope-labeled internal standards are unavailable.

N-alkylpyridinium quaternization combined with liquid chromatography–electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry: A highly sensitive method to quantify fatty alcohols in thyroid tissues
TL;DR: A highly sensitive method was developed for the identification and quantification of fatty alcohols in biological tissues, revealing a significant decrease of fattycohols (free and esterified) in thyroid carcinoma tissues (p<0.05).

TL;DR: Both peptide N-terminus identification and quantitative analysis were accomplished with high accuracy, efficiency, and reproducibility using trypsin-digested bovine serum albumin, and the application of DMPITC-based labeling strategy is expected to serve as a promising tool for proteome research.

N-alkylpyridinium quaternization for assisting electrospray ionization of sterols in oil by quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometry.
TL;DR: The use of N-alkylpyridinium isotope quaternization method provided an alternative method for identifies the potential illegal cooking oil and was applied in the detection of zoosterol for identifying the potential recycled cooking oil, even when the illegal oil has been blended into the ordinary one.
