Why Liquid Phase LPG Port Injection has Superior Power and Efficiency to Gas Phase Port Injection

The paper analyzes the problem of injector dosage irregularity in classical and alternative fueling systems in motor vehicles. An adoption of a newly manufactured subassembly as a starting point for the research creates idealized engine operating conditions (new engines). The question of investigating used subassemblies is rather difficult but it provides a better and clearer picture of the existing situation - the exhaust emissions. The authors have undertaken the problem of fueling irregularity as a response to a growing number of vehicles with malfunctions of LPG fueling systems that are currently very popular in Poland. In the course of the analysis, several injectors were tested to present the differences in their dosage irregularity. To realize the research tasks, different test stands with software were designed. To fully visualize the problem, several sets of injecting units were selected at different stages of their wear. The results have shown that gasoline injectors are characterized by approx 0.5% irregularity and if heavily worn - 6%. LPG vapour injectors reached the level of 5% and heavily worn ones - 50%. The intensity of sunlight becomes lower when weather conditions change, which affects whether a solar-electric vehicle can be driven on a shady road. The power delivered by solar cells can be vary depending on the amount of shade. As a result, the battery system is often used to compensate for variations in the power delivered by solar cells. Therefore, studies of power control systems for solar-electric vehicles are required. In this paper, mathematical models for such a power control system are studied and important variables are considered. A Study of on a Power Control System for a Solar-Electric Vehicle

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is a well-known clean alternative fuel for vehicles. In a heavy-duty, liquid-phase LPG injection (LPLi) system, several factors influence the amount of fuel injected. These factors are fuel temperature, fuel injection pressure, battery voltage, and so on. In order to maintain the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio in the cylinder during engine operation, the injected fuel quantity should be controlled accurately. In this study, the characteristics of the injector used in the heavy-duty LPLi engine are investigated experimentally. The fuel injection algorithm, which compensates for the variations in the injection pressure, the fuel temperature and the battery voltage, is developed and verified through engine tests.

Experimental analysis of a liquid-phase liquefied petroleum gas injector for a heavy-duty engine

An air-fuel ratio control is essential in reducing hazardous exhaust emissions from a compressed natural gas(CNG) engine, and can be accomplished by accurate control of gas injection flow. In this study, theoretical research was conducted on injection characteristics of a solenoid gas injector, and injection experiments for calibration and analysis were performed. Various factors for gas injection flow such as injection pressure, gas temperature, and supply voltage are studied. A dynamic flow equation of the natural gas was proposed on the basis of flow dynamics theories and results of the injection experiment. The verification of the dynamic flow equation of the solenoid injector was carried out with a large CNG-engine applied to an urban bus. Air-fuel ratio control experiments were conducted in both steady and transient state. Results of injection experiments for the solenoid injector and the CNG-engine was proved the control method proposed herein to be effective.
