A new approach to estimate viscosity in dilute and dense pure fluid states by using generalized friction theory based on pair interaction potential energy functions

In this article, a model of hard spheres for critical fluid, based on the hypothesis on the coordination number of molecules in minimally bound infinite clusters, is considered. Variants of homogeneous (quasi-crystalline lattice) and heterogeneous (“Cayley tree forest”) molecular packings at the vertices of a uniform graph of order 3 are described. Using the theory of generalized charges and taking into account the found structures, the dependences of the critical molar volume on electronic structure parameters, which have the character of non-empirical laws, are derived. A priori calculations of molar volumes by the critical state model are in good agreement with the reference data for simple gases and linear hydrocarbons.

The viscosity coefficients for the gaseous states of N 2 and O 2 and their mixtures are determined at zero and moderately density regimes. The Lennard-Jones 12-6 (LJ 12-6) potential energy function is used as the initial model potential required by the technique. The interaction potential energies from the inversion procedure reproduce the viscosity commensurate to the best measurements. The initial density dependence of gaseous viscosity coefficient according to the Rainwater-Friend theory, which was given by Najafi et al., has been considered for pure N 2 and pure O 2 .

Molar volume for mixtures of methane with krypton, argon, ethane and carbon monoxide using the ISM equation of state

In this paper the analytical equation of state (EoS) proposed by Ihm-Song-Mason was applied to calculate molar volume of mixtures of carbon dioxide with nitrogen and methane. The pair interaction potential has been used to evaluate the second virial coefficients and the ISM EoS parameters (i.e. a and b). The calculated values of the aforesaid quantities were applied to predict the molar volumes for mixtures of carbon dioxide with nitrogen and methane. Agreement with experiment was excellent for both mixtures.
