Life cycle assessment of a geothermal combined heat and power plant based on high temperature utilization
TL;DR: In this article, the authors applied life cycle assessment (LCA) to examine environmental impacts of generating 1.5kW/h of energy in a geothermal combined heat and power (CHP) plant based on high temperature geothermal utilization.

Interactive graph-cut segmentation for fast creation of finite element models from clinical ct data for hip fracture prediction.
Yves Pauchard,Thomas Fitze,Diego Hernan Browarnik,Amiraslan Eskandari,Irene Pauchard,William S. Enns-Bray,Halldór Pálsson,Sigurdur Sigurdsson,Stephen J. Ferguson,Tamara B. Harris,Vilmundur Gudnason,Benedikt Helgason +11 more
TL;DR: Results show that, comparable FE results can be obtained with the graph cut method, with a reduction from 20 to 2–5 min interaction time, and changes in automatically assigned boundary conditions as a consequence of small segmentation differences were significantly correlated with FE derived results.
Experimental and numerical modelling comparison of thermal performance of expanded polystyrene and corrugated plastic packaging for fresh fish
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the thermal performance of corrugated plastic (CP) and expanded polystyrene (EPS) for wholesale fresh fish boxes made of whole, fresh fillets.

The influence of the modulus-density relationship and the material mapping method on the simulated mechanical response of the proximal femur in side-ways fall loading configuration.
Benedikt Helgason,Seth Gilchrist,O. Ariza,P.J. Vogt,William S. Enns-Bray,René P. Widmer,Thomas Fitze,Halldór Pálsson,Yves Pauchard,Pierre Guy,Stephen J. Ferguson,Peter A. Cripton +11 more
TL;DR: There exists a need to carry out a more comprehensive validation study for the SWF loading mode to identify which combination of MMMs and E-ρ relationship leads to the best match for whole bone and local mechanical response.

Life cycle inventory of a flash geothermal combined heat and power plant located in Iceland
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a life cycle inventory (LCI) describing the material and energy demands for constructing and operating a geothermal combined heat and power (GCHP) plant as well as direct emissions of gases, waste water, and waste heat.
