Background: Antenatal exercise is crucial in promoting pregnant women’s health and well-being. However, no research in Libya examined the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of antenatal exercise among pregnant women. Methods: This cross-sectional study aimed to explore the knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to antenatal exercise among pregnant women in Libya. A convenience sample of pregnant women (n = 205) receiving prenatal care at Misrata Medical Center and having no contraindication for exercise participated in the study. A self-administered, previously elaborated questionnaire was used to assess participants’ awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and practice of antenatal exercise. Descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression analysis were employed using SPSS version 28. Results: The findings revealed that nearly half of the participants demonstrated good knowledge (56.1%) and a positive attitude (47.8%) regarding antenatal exercise. Less than one-third (30.2%) of participants engaged in some form of exercise during pregnancy. The logistic regression results showed that age, income, and practice of exercise before pregnancy significantly contributed to the knowledge score. The analysis indicated that the unemployment status (AOR = 2.42, 95% CI [0.78-6.38], P = .03) and practicing exercise before pregnancy (AOR = 1.97, 95% CI [0.92-4.24], P = .02) were significantly associated with a higher likelihood of engaging in antenatal exercise. The main subjective reasons for pregnant women not engaging in antenatal exercise were lack of time, poor knowledge, fatigue, and worries about harming the baby. Conclusion: This study sheds light on the current state of antenatal exercise among pregnant women in Libya and highlights the factors shaping these behaviors. The findings underscore the importance of promoting accurate knowledge, addressing misconceptions, and providing support and resources to overcome barriers and encourage safe and effective antenatal exercise practices in Libya. Future studies should consider employing qualitative or mixed methods research designs to examine antenatal exercise from different perspectives.

Exploring Antenatal Exercise: Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices, and Influencing Factors among Pregnant Women in Libya

Bu araştırma sağlık hizmetleri meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin şiddet eğilim düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı. Tanımlayıcı tasarımda gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın evrenini bir üniversitenin sağlık hizmetleri meslek yüksekokulunda öğrenim gören 1515 öğrenci, örneklemi ise gönüllü katılan 305 öğrenci oluşturdu. Veriler tanıtıcı bilgi formu ve şiddet eğilim ölçeği ile Mart-Haziran 2020 tarihleri arsında toplandı. Verilerin analizinde normallik testleri, güvenilirlik analizleri, tanımlayıcı istatistiksel yöntemler ve karşılaştırma analizleri uygulandı. Öğrencilerin şiddet eğilimi ölçeği puan ortalaması 39,93 (SS:10,55) olarak bulundu. Erkek öğrencilerin kadın öğrencilere göre, otoriter baskıcı anne baba tutumuna sahip öğrencilerin, demokratik ilgili ve aşırı koruyucu anne baba tutumuna sahip öğrencilere göre, ilçe ve kasabada yaşayanların ilde yaşayanlara göre şiddet eğilim düzeylerinin daha yüksek olduğu tespit edildi. Çekingen, pasif, sakin ve hoşgörülü kişilik özelliklerine sahip olmayan öğrencilerin sahip olanlara göre şiddete eğiliminin daha yüksek olduğu saptandı. Bu çalışmada öğrencilerin şiddette eğilimlerinin az olduğu ve bazı demografik değişkenler ve kişilik özellikleri ile anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu bulundu.

Violence Tendency Levels Of Health Services Vocational School Students

The present study reviews the Maternal Nutrition knowledge of health care providers (ANMs and ASHAs) of Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs) and attempts to find out the existing gaps in their knowledge level related to maternal nutrition as well as discusses strategies to bridge those gaps. Good nutrition is the core pillar for human development and its necessity varies with respect to age, gender and during physiological changes such as pregnancy which is a critical phase in a woman's life when the expectant mother needs optimal nutrients to support the developing fetus. Awareness about appropriate nutrition during pregnancy is a serious concern and lack of it may lead to child morbidity and mortality. Therefore it is imperative to address this issue properly in various government policies and schemes. ICDS scheme initiated by Government of India is a major step in this regard which provides nutrition and health education, supplementary nutrition, family planning tips etc. to the pregnant women. The Anganwadi workers are the basic functionaries of the ICDS scheme and their services (providing counseling, supplementary nutrition, distribution of Iron & Folic acid tablets) are transmitted to the beneficiaries through a channel of Anganwadi centers (AWCs). Keeping the above background in mind relevant literature such as journals, newspapers, articles, research papers from Scopus, Pub Med, research gate, and Google scholar related to national and state policies pertinent to maternal nutrition were reviewed to find out the existing gaps in the knowledge level of health care providers. It is concluded from the study that maternal nutritional needs have to be prioritized in government health programmes and strategies to improve the status of expectant mothers need to be implemented to address nutritional challenges. Government schemes can be strengthened by promoting integration of services, ensuring effective procurement mechanisms for supplementary nutrition and food supplements, establishing regional training facilities and strengthening program monitoring and evaluation.

A review paper on anganwadi workers knowledge on maternal nutrition

Abstract Background Mpox remains a significant public health threat in Africa, with recent outbreaks driven by newly emergent clades I and II. Vaccination is a critical intervention for outbreak control, yet evidence on vaccine acceptance and uptake across the continent has not been comprehensively synthesized. This study aimed to determine the pooled prevalence and determinants of mpox vaccine acceptance and uptake in Africa. Methods We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis following PRISMA guidelines, registered with PROSPERO (CRD420251126033). We searched PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL, ScienceDirect, and African Journals Online from 1970 to August 2025. Data were extracted using a standardized form, and quality was assessed with Joanna Briggs Institute tools. Pooled estimates were calculated using random-effects generalized linear mixed models with Probit-Logit transformation. Subgroup analyses and meta-regressions explored heterogeneity by region, population, setting, and time period. Results Of 9,748 records screened, 35 studies were included. The overall mpox vaccine acceptance rate was 53.55% (95% CI: 46.16–60.79), with high heterogeneity (I 2 =98%). Central Africa showed moderate acceptance at 54.17% (95% CI: 20.82–84.16), Eastern Africa at 54.16% (95% CI: 42.43– 65.44), while Western Africa was lower at 50.11% (95% CI: 39.94–60.27). Acceptance was highest in Southern Africa (67.43%; 95% CI: 61.85–72.67). Healthcare workers’ acceptance was 51.63% (95% CI: 39.37–63.70) and medical students’ was 46.17% (95% CI: 38.53–54.01), both lower than the general population (62.46%; 95% CI: 52.25–71.66). Actual vaccine uptake was 20.94% (95% CI: 10.06–38.56), varying significantly by country, with the Democratic Republic of the Congo at 20.01% (95% CI: 7.45–43.75). A significant decline occurred after 2022 (pre-2022: 36.0% [95% CI: 19.74–56.26]; post-2022: 3.4% [95% CI: 0.56–17.96]). Key determinants of acceptance included higher mpox knowledge, trust in health authorities, prior vaccination history, and free vaccine access. Conclusion There is a substantial gap between mpox vaccine acceptance and actual uptake in Africa, with a significant decline in coverage since 2022. Strategies to enhance vaccination must address both demand and supply challenges, including equitable distribution and integration into routine immunization systems. These findings underscore the need for context-specific, multi-level interventions to translate willingness into actual vaccine uptake. 

Mpox vaccine acceptance and uptake in Africa: a systematic review and meta-analysis (1970-2024)

Background: Antenatal physical activity is an important physical, mental, and biochemical factor to consider. Several studies across the world have demonstrated the importance of physical activity during the antenatal period. Various factors are associated with knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to Antenatal PA. This study aimed to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to Antenatal PA among married women in Afghanistan.&#x0D; Methods: This community-based cross-sectional study was conducted in Herat province. In total, 316 married women age group–16-60 were included in this study. Participants were asked about their knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding Antenatal exercise (ANEx). &#x0D; Results: More than half (56.3%) of the participants were between 16-30 years old. Two-thirds of the participants lived in urban areas, and one-sixth of the participants were illiterate (57.9%). Less than one-third of the participants had heard of antenatal exercises (32.0%). Approximately 72% of the participants had poor knowledge, 90% had poor attitudes, and only 4% practiced antenatal exercises. Higher education, residence in urban areas, and higher monthly family income were important predictors of knowledge regarding ANEx. Similarly, a greater number of children and higher education levels are determinants of ANEx practice.&#x0D; Conclusion: Poor knowledge, attitudes, and practices remained the main barriers to ANEx. In the current situation of political instability and a lack of healthcare facilities, community workers can only be a way to address this issue.

Knowledge, attitude and practice of antenatal exercise (ANEx) among married women in Afghanistan: A cross-sectional study

Background If pregnant mothers have no medical or obstetrical complications, they are encouraged to maintain active lifestyles during their pregnancies. Benefits of exercise during pregnancy include; prevention of gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia and reduced low back pain. Therefore this study is done to assess knowledge, attitude and practice towards antenatal exercise among pregnant women who are attending antenatal care at health centers of Mekelle, Tigray Region, Ethiopia. Method For this study cross-sectional study design was used. It was conducted from October 2019 up to January 2020 among 255 pregnant women who are attending antenatal care at selected health centers of Mekelle city. After the data were collected it was entered into epi-data 4.2.0 and was analyzed by using SPSS version 23. Result Among the study participants of pregnant women 51%, 56% and 16.6% had good knowledge, positive attitude and practice towards antenatal exercise respectively. Among those 38.8%, 45.9% and 49.8% were expressed as antenatal exercise can decrease back pain, prevents excessive weight gain and increase energy and stamina during pregnancy respectively. Among those who practiced antenatal exercise, 95% and 83.4% was practicing with frequency ≥ three times per week and ≥20 minutes of the duration of exercise per session respectively. Discussion Generally, this study showed that the level of knowledge, attitude and practice of pregnant mothers regarding antenatal exercise is poor. Therefore, health care providers who work on maternal health (Gynecologists, Midwives, Nurses, Health extension workers and other community workers) should provide counseling and health education on antenatal exercise.

Assessment of knowledge, attitude and practice towards ante natal exercise among pregnant women attending antenatal care at Health centers of Mekelle, Tigray Region, Ethiopia, 2020

Background Gender-based violence is an important topic that needs to be taken into account when identifying gender-related gaps and disadvantages that a person might face because of their gender. Violence against women could result in psychological and physical adverse outcomes. Therefore, this study aims to assess the prevalence and predictors of gender-based violence among female students at Wolkite University, southwest Ethiopia, 2021. Method An institutional-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 393 female students and the students were selected by using a systematic sampling method. Data were checked for completeness and entered into EpiData version 3.1 and then exported to SPSS version 23 for further analysis. Binary and multivariable logistic regressions were employed to determine the prevalence and predictors of gender-based violence. The adjusted odds ratio (AOR) with its 95% confidence interval (CI) at a p-value of ≤0.05 was used to check statistical association. Result In this study, the overall prevalence of gender-based violence among female students was 46.2%. The prevalence of physical violence and sexual violence was 56.1% and 47.0%, respectively. Factors that were significantly associated with gender-based violence among female university students were: being a 2nd-year student or having a lower educational level [AOR = 2.56 (95% CI, 1.06–6.17)], being married or living with a male partner [AOR = 3.35 (95% CI, 1.07–10.5], having a father with no formal education [AOR = 15.46 (95% CI, 5.204–45.39)], having a drinking habit [AOR = 2.53 (95% CI, 1.21–6.30)] and not being able to freely discuss issues with their families [AOR = 2.48 (95% CI, 1.27–4.84)] Conclusions and recommendations The result of this study showed that more than one-third of the participants were exposed to gender-based violence. Thus, gender-based violence is an important topic deserving of more consideration; further investigations are important to decrease gender-based violence among university students.
