The objective of the study was to explore the relationship between employees’ job satisfaction (as measured by the Job Satisfaction Survey) and organisational commitment (as measured on the Organisational Commitment Scale). A cross-sectional survey was conducted on a convenience sample of 86 employees at four information technology companies in South Africa. Correlational and stepwise regression analyses revealed a number of signifi cant relationships between the two variables. The fi ndings add new knowledge that can be used to improve organisational practices for the retention of valuable staff members in the information technology environment.

Background: When disasters occur, humanitarian relief workers frequently deploy to assist in rescue/recovery efforts.Aims: To conduct a systematic review of factors affecting the psychological wellbeing of disaster relief workers and identify recommendations for interventions.Method: We searched MEDLINE®, Embase, PsycINFO® and Web of Science for relevant studies, supplemented by hand searches. Risk and resilience factors affecting the psychological wellbeing of individuals deployed in humanitarian relief roles after a disaster.

In order to active the education industry and make a contribution for the higher education field, private higher education becomes a backbone force in Chinese society. Based on the report of Ministry of Education in 2017 mentioned that the biggest problem with private higher education is that the weak and unstable academic staffs which lead to low job performance. In addition to policies and management, how to further improve the quality and performance of academicians is also an essential issue eager to be solved in private education institutions. Therefore, how to construct qualified personnel is one of the fundamental problems in the survival and development of private colleges and universities. The performance and quality of the academic staffs largely determines the quality of private colleges and universities. Leadership style was regarded as an importance role affect organizational commitment and organizational performance. This study intends to find out the mediating effect of organizational commitment on the relationship between leadership style and job performance by using the survey data from academicians of top ten Chinese private universities.

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of a pay increase on job satisfaction among junior officers in the Chinese Army. A job satisfaction questionnaire was devised for the study and was used both before and after a raise in pay with junior military officers from one military region to detect changes in job satisfaction. Before the pay increase, job satisfaction was at a comparatively low level; after the pay raise, it improved significantly. This improvement also occurred in all facets of job satisfaction. It was concluded that pay satisfaction plays an important role in job satisfaction for Chinese junior military officers.

The influence of a pay increase on job satisfaction: A study with the Chinese army

We sought to compare the efficacy of the “512 Psychological Intervention Model” (that is, “512 PIM”, a new psychological intervention) with debriefing on symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression of Chinese military rescuers in relation to a control group that had no intervention. We conducted a randomized controlled trial with 2,368 military rescuers 1 month after this event and then at follow-up 1, 2 and 4 months later to evaluate changes in symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression based on DSM-IV criteria, respectively. Baseline analysis suggested no significant differences between the study groups. Severity of PTSD, anxiety and depression decreased over time in all three groups, with significant differences between the groups in symptoms of PTSD (P < 0.01). Compared with the debriefing and control group, significant lower scores of PTSD and positive efficacy in improving symptoms of re-experiencing, avoidance and hyperarousal were found in the “512 PIM” group. “512 PIM” was an effective psychological intervention for military rescuers in reducing symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression after a crisis.

In this study a Chinese version of the Situational Self-Awareness Scale (SSAS; Govern & Marsch, 2001) was developed and tested for validity and reliability. Participants were 1,244 undergraduate students. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and other statistical methods yielded results indicating a good correlation of items in the Chinese (C-SSAS) and English version of the scale. When private self-awareness was assessed in a private setting the score of participants was significantly greater and likewise the public self-awareness scores were higher when the scale was completed in a public setting. Test-retest reliability was significant across situations and time. The reallocation of one item to public self-awareness in the C-SSAS from private in the SSAS was indicative of differences between Eastern and Western cultures and this is discussed. In general, the results indicated that the Chinese version of the SSAS has good reliability and validity. The scale should, therefore, be suitable as a reference to develop scales for evaluating personnel working in specific occupations.
