Alteration in bone marrow adherent layer growth factor expression: a novel mechanism of chronic myelogenous leukemia progression.
TL;DR: It appears that abnormal expression of growth factors is a common event with CML Ph1 progression, and it is hypothesized that IL-1 beta generated by the transformed malignant clone stimulates the marrow stroma to produce various growth factors, and that this process may play a role in disease progression.

A phase Ib/II study of ivosidenib with venetoclax +/- azacitidine in IDH1-mutated myeloid malignancies.
Curtis Lachowiez,Gautam Borthakur,Sanam Loghavi,Zhihong Zeng,Tapan M. Kadia,Lucia Masarova,Koichi Takahashi,George Dono Tippett,Samantha Smith,Jacqueline S. Garcia,Prithviraj Bose,Elias Jabbour,Farhad Ravandi,Naval Daver,Guillermo Garcia-Manero,Bilyana Stoilova,Paresh Vyas,Hagop M. Kantarjian,Marina Konopleva,Courtney D. DiNardo +19 more
TL;DR: This data indicates that the presence of IDH1 mutations in myeloid malignancies promotes leukemogenesis through production of the oncometabolite 2-hydroxyglutarate resul...

Phase II Study of Alemtuzumab in Combination With Pentostatin in Patients With T-Cell Neoplasms
Farhad Ravandi,Ahmed Aribi,Susan O'Brien,Stefan Faderl,Dan Jones,Alessandra Ferrajoli,Xuelin Huang,Sergernne York,Sherry Pierce,William G. Wierda,Dimitrios P. Kontoyiannis,Srdan Verstovsek,Barbara Pro,Luis Fayad,Michael J. Keating,Hagop M. Kantarjian +15 more
TL;DR: The combination of alemtuzumab and pentostatin is feasible and effective in T-cell neoplasms and infections, including cytomegalovirus reactivation, are a concern, they may be minimized with adequate prophylactic antibiotic therapy.

Inhibition of mitochondrial metabolism by methyl-2-cyano-3,12-dioxooleana- 1,9-diene-28-oate induces apoptotic or autophagic cell death in chronic myeloid leukemia cells
Ismael Samudio,Svitlana Kurinna,Peter P. Ruvolo,Borys Korchin,Hagop M. Kantarjian,Miloslav Beran,Kenneth Dunner,Seiji Kondo,Michael Andreeff,Marina Konopleva +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that alterations in mitochondrial function by CDDO-Me can result in autophagy or apoptosis of chronic myeloid leukemia cells regardless of the mutational status of bcr-abl.
