Embodiments of various methods, devices and systems are described herein that use a unified bus communication protocol. One such device comprises an interface for sending and receiving signals, and a mux and sync engine coupled to the interface and configured to determine time slots for sent and received signals according to a unified bitstream frame format. The unified bitstream frame format comprises a plurality of frame channels for transmitting data in a bitstream mode of communication such that data from the frame channels are time-multiplexed across the frame channels one bit at a time, wherein one of the frame channels is allocated as a control channel comprising individual control bits from control data, and at least one of the frame channels is allocated as a virtual frame channel comprising individual data bits taken from digital word data.

Various embodiments are described herein related to techniques for synchronizing a slave device to a master device that communicates using a unified bus communication protocol or some aspect thereof. In one example, the method may comprise assuming a first mode of operation for the unified bus communication protocol; searching for a synchronization pattern at one or more locations in transmitted data according to the first mode of operation; obtaining synchronization when the located synchronization pattern is verified according to at least one synchronization rule for the mode of operation; and if synchronization is not obtained based on the assumed first mode of operation, a second mode of operation for the unified bus communication protocol is assumed and the searching and obtaining acts are carried out on the transmitted data according to the second mode of operation.

The digital cross-connect system (DCS) employs cross-connect equipment composing the synchronized digital network. The scale of DCS is enlarged using the rearranged-type TST switches based on the nondisturbing rearrangement control algorithm.



This paper considers the case where DCS is controlled using the proposed rearrangement pattern search algorithm. A control algorithm is proposed which can avoid the generation of a blocking state, thereby necessitating the rearrangement control, and can realize the nondisturbing rearrangement control when a blocking is produced. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated by computer simulation.



In this paper, knowledge in other studies such as the mechanism of block generation is summarized. Then an evaluation measure is introduced for the S switch state. A control algorithm is proposed which suppresses the generation of the blocking by selecting the S switch timeslot to maximize the evaluation measure. It was verified by the computer simulation that the generation of the rearrangement control is reduced by approximately 5 to 30 percent, depending on the switch structure, compared to the algorithm that minimizes the evaluation measure for the switch. A nondisturbing control method for the switch also is presented.

T HE GENERAL procedures adopted in the design of the Integrated Service Digital Terminal (ISDT) are described. The ISDT accommodates multiple-bit-rate signals from various sources, as a step towards realizing the ISDN. First, the fundamental ISDT concept is introduced, and the signal source bit-rate series and cross-connect unit are discussed as network parameters. Secondly, a systematic proposal is made which takes into consideration multiplexer module classification and the multiplexing algorithm. Thirdly, a multiplexer realization procedure and its cost effectiveness are described. Finally, the total ISDT operation system concept is introduced. The construction of an integrated digital network began in 1977 with the introduction of a digital data network which carried data in the form of a digital signal over one digital transmission link [I]. Subsequently, telephone network digitalization was initiated in the expectation that common usage of telecommunications facilities could be realized for various kinds of services in the future. In this process, the network synchronization technique was established up to the secondary digital stage (DS-2,6.312 Mb/s). In addition, the intra-office 8-kHz phase alignment method was developed.
