Die Krankheiten der Pox-Virus-Gruppe zeichnen sich nicht nur durch Gemeinsamkeiten in der Erreger-Struktur (Ruska, H., 1941), sondern auch durch verbindende klinische Merkmale aus.

Pox-Virus-Krankheiten

Heute ordnet man vorwiegend auf Grund mikromorphologischer Kriterien in die Gruppe der Pockenvirusarten eine grose Zahl von Erregern menschlicher und tierischer Krankheiten ein, die mannigfache verwandtschaftliche Beziehungen untereinander aufweisen. Die Kenntnis der letzteren ist fur die diagnostische Arbeit im Laboratorium und fur epidemiologische Belange von Bedeutung. Sie ist einerseits die Basis fur die Bemuhungen um eine befriedigende, auch klinischen Bedurfnissen gerecht werdende Pockensystematik, erschwert diese aber andererseits wegen ihrer bisher noch nicht vollstandig erfasten Vielfalt. In Ansehung dieser Schwierigkeit soll hier aus praktischen Erwagungen und nicht prajudizie- rend eine Aufteilung der Pockenviren in 4 Untergruppen vorgenommen werden.
