Attenuation of mouse melanoma by A/C magnetic field after delivery of bi-magnetic nanoparticles by neural progenitor cells.
Raja Shekar Rachakatla,Sivasai Balivada,Gwi-Moon Seo,Carl B. Myers,Hongwang Wang,Thilani N. Samarakoon,Raj Kumar Dani,Marla Pyle,Franklin Orban Kroh,Brandon Walker,Xiaoxuan Leaym,Olga Koper,Viktor Chikan,Stefan H. Bossmann,Masaaki Tamura,Deryl L. Troyer +15 more
TL;DR: The NPCs loaded with MNPs could travel to subcutaneous melanomas, and after A/C (alternating current) magnetic field (AMF) exposure, the targeted delivery of MNPs by the cells resulted in a measurable regression of the tumors.

Intratracheal Administration of a Nanoparticle-Based Therapy with the Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor Gene Attenuates Lung Cancer Growth
Atsushi Kawabata,Abdulgader Ahmed Baoum,Naomi Ohta,Stephanie Jacquez,Gwi-Moon Seo,Cory Berkland,Masaaki Tamura +6 more
TL;DR: The dimerized HIV-1 TAT peptide is formulated and formulated as a nanoparticle vector (dTAT NP) to leverage the efficiency of this cell-penetrating strategy for tumor-targeted gene delivery in the setting of intratracheal administration to offer a preclinical proof-of-concept for a novel gene delivery system that offers an effective intratRacheal strategy for administering lung cancer gene therapy.

Magnetic-Fe/Fe(3)O(4)-nanoparticle-bound SN38 as carboxylesterase-cleavable prodrug for the delivery to tumors within monocytes/macrophages
Hongwang Wang,Tej B. Shrestha,Matthew T. Basel,Raj Kumar Dani,Gwi-Moon Seo,Sivasai Balivada,Marla Pyle,Heidy Prock,Olga Koper,Prem S. Thapa,David S. Moore,Ping Li,Viktor Chikan,Deryl L. Troyer,Stefan H. Bossmann +14 more
TL;DR: The synthesis of a nanoplatform, which is composed of a 15 ± 1 nm diameter core/shell Fe/Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and the topoisomerase I blocker SN38 bound to the surface of the MNPs via a carboxylesterase cleavable linker, which demonstrated high heating ability in an AC-magnetic field.

Total, Membrane, and Immunogenic Proteomes of Macrophage- and Tick Cell-Derived Ehrlichia chaffeensis Evaluated by Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry and MALDI-TOF Methods
TL;DR: This is the first study confirming the expression of nearly one-fourth of all predicted genes of the E. chaffeensis genome, validating that they are functionally active genes, and demonstrating that classic shotgun proteomic approaches are feasible for tick-transmitted intraphagosomal bacteria.

A self-contained enzyme activating prodrug cytotherapy for preclinical melanoma
Gwi-Moon Seo,Raja Shekar Rachakatla,Sivasai Balivada,Marla Pyle,Tej B. Shrestha,Matthew T. Basel,Carl B. Myers,Hongwang Wang,Masaaki Tamura,Stefan H. Bossmann,Deryl L. Troyer +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a targeted suicide gene therapeutic system that is completely contained within tumor-tropic cells and have tested this system for melanoma therapy in a preclinical model was developed. But this system is based on the delivery of a suicide gene, a gene encoding an enzyme which is able to convert its substrate from non-toxic prodrug to cytotoxin.
