Repopulation of decellularized mouse heart with human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiovascular progenitor cells.
TL;DR: It is shown that the seeded multipotential cardiovascular progenitor cells migrate, proliferate and differentiate in situ into cardiomyocytes, smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells to reconstruct the decellularized hearts.
Identification of peripheral neural circuits that regulate heart rate using optogenetic and viral vector strategies
Pradeep S. Rajendran,Rosemary C. Challis,Charless C. Fowlkes,Peter Hanna,John D. Tompkins,Maria C. Jordan,Sarah Hiyari,Beth A. Gabris-Weber,Alon Greenbaum,Ken Y. Chan,Ken Y. Chan,Benjamin E. Deverman,Benjamin E. Deverman,Heike Münzberg,Jeffrey L. Ardell,Guy Salama,Viviana Gradinaru,Kalyanam Shivkumar +17 more
TL;DR: A clearing-imaging-analysis pipeline is developed to visualize innervation of intact hearts in 3D and a multi-technique approach is employed to map parasympathetic and sympathetic neural circuits that control heart rate in mice to provide new insights into neural regulation of heart rate.
Relaxin Suppresses Atrial Fibrillation by Reversing Fibrosis and Myocyte Hypertrophy, and Increasing Conduction Velocity and Sodium Current in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rat Hearts
Ashish Parikh,Divyang Patel,Charles F. McTiernan,Wenyu Xiang,Jamie Haney,Lei Yang,Bo Lin,Aaron D. Kaplan,Glenna C.L. Bett,Randall L. Rasmusson,Sanjeev G. Shroff,David Schwartzman,Guy Salama +12 more
TL;DR: The study provides compelling evidence that RLX may provide a novel therapy to manage AF in humans by reversing fibrosis and hypertrophy and by modulating cardiac ionic currents.

Relaxin suppresses atrial fibrillation in aged rats by reversing fibrosis and upregulating Na+ channels
Brian L. Henry,Beth Gabris,Qiao Li,Brian J. Martin,Marianna Giannini,Ashish Parikh,Divyang Patel,Jamie Haney,David Schwartzman,Sanjeev G. Shroff,Guy Salama +10 more
TL;DR: Data provide compelling evidence that relaxin may serve as an effective therapy to manage AF in geriatric patients by reversing fibrosis and modulating cardiac ionic currents.
