Unification and matching on compressed terms
TL;DR: In this paper, a polynomial time algorithm for context matching with directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) was proposed, where the number of different context variables is fixed for the problem.

The confluence of ground term rewrite systems is decidable in polynomial time
Hubert Comon,Guillem Godoy,Robert Nieuwenhuis +2 more
- 14 Oct 2001
TL;DR: The authors give a polynomial-time algorithm for deciding the confluence of GTRS, and hence also for the particular case of suffix- and prefix string rewrite systems or Thue systems, and show that this bound is optimal for all these problems by proving PTIME-hardness for the string case.

The Emptiness Problem for Tree Automata with Global Constraints
Luis Barguñó,Carles Creus,Guillem Godoy,Florent Jacquemard,Camille Vacher +4 more
- 11 Jul 2010
TL;DR: The decidability of a fragment of the monadic second order logic on trees extended with predicates for equality and disequality between subtrees, and cardinality is proved.
Decidable Classes of Tree Automata Mixing Local and Global Constraints Modulo Flat Theories
TL;DR: The decidability of the emptiness problem for TABG is proved and a fragment of the monadic second order logic on trees extended with predicates for equality and disequality between subtrees, and cardinality is proved.
Confluence of shallow right-linear rewrite systems
Guillem Godoy,Ashish Tiwari +1 more
- 22 Aug 2005
TL;DR: It is shown that confluence of shallow and right-linear term rewriting systems is decidable, and this class of rewriting system is expressive enough to include nontrivial nonground rules such as commutativity, identity, and idempotence.
