Th1 and Th2 cytokine response patterns in leukocyte cultures of patients with urinary bladder, renal cell and prostate carcinomas.
Ursula Elsässer-Beile,N. Kölble,Grussenmeyer T,Wolfgang Schultze-Seemann,Ulrich Wetterauer,Harald Gallati,J. Schulte Mönting,S. von Kleist +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that there is only a malfunction in Th1 cells but no switch from a Th1 type to a Th2 type cytokine profile in the PBMCs of cancer patients.

Semiquantitative analysis of Th1 and Th2 cytokine expression in CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ renal-cell-carcinoma-infiltrating lymphocytes.
Ursula Elsässer-Beile,Grussenmeyer T,Dorothee Gierschner,Barbara Schmoll,Wolfgang Schultze-Seemann,Ulrich Wetterauer,Jürgen Schulte Mönting +6 more
TL;DR: An in vivo activation of RCC-infiltrating lymphocytes at the mRNA level with respect to the Th1 as well as the Th2 immune response seems to be most evident in the CD8+ TIL.

Comparison of the activation status of tumor infiltrating and peripheral lymphocytes of patients with adenocarcinomas and benign hyperplasia of the prostate
Ursula Elsässer-Beile,Boris Przytulski,Dorothee Gierschner,Grussenmeyer T,Arndt Katzenwadel,C. Leiber,Alexander Deckart,Ulrich Wetterauer +7 more
TL;DR: The activation status of freshly isolated tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) from prostate carcinomas (PCa) and benign hyperplasia (BPH) with respect to the mRNA expression of cytokines and apoptotic factors is characterized.

Comparison of the effects of various clinically applied mistletoe preparations on peripheral blood leukocytes.
Ursula Elsässer-Beile,Lusebrink S,Grussenmeyer T,Ulrich Wetterauer,Wolfgang Schultze-Seemann +4 more
TL;DR: Both apoptosis and cytokine production are induced differentially in leukocyte cultures by clinically applied mistletoe preparations, however, there is no correlation between the biological effects and the lectin content of the various preparations and none of them were comparable with respect to the extent of these effects.

Enhanced expression of IFN- γ mRNA in CD4+or CD8+tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes compared to peripheral lymphocytes in patients with renal cell cancer
Ursula Elsässer-Beile,M Rindsfüser,Grussenmeyer T,Wolfgang Schultze-Seemann,Ulrich Wetterauer +4 more
TL;DR: A general in vivo activation of RCC infiltrating lymphocytes in the tumour surrounding is reflected, with a significant higher expression of IFN-γ, IL-10 and TNF-α in the CD4+ and CD8+ peripheral blood lymphocytes from 20 patients with renal cell carcinomas.
