Feed additives are commonly added in poultry feed as a growth promotant or to improve feed efficiency. The most common feed additive used is antibiotic at sub-therapheutic doses, although there is a controversy on its impact on human health. Previous results showed that Aloe vera gel could improve feed efficiency in broilers and an in vitro study showed that the extract have an antibacterial effect. Therefore, a further experiment was designed to study the response of broilers to Aloe vera gel or its extract as feed additives. Aloe vera was prepared in dry gel or chloroform-extract and included in the diet at levels of 0.25; 0.50 and 1.00 g/kg (equal to dry gel). Standard diets with or without antibiotic were also formulated as control and a commercial diet was included for comparison. The diets were fed to broilers from day old to 5 weeks. Each treatment has 9 replicates and 6chicks/replicate. Parameters observed were: feed consumption, weight gain and feed convertion ratios. Carcass yield, abdominal fat levels, relative weight of liver, gizzard, tractus digestivus and length of tractus digestivus were also measured at the end of feeding trial. The results showed that Aloe gel and its extract did not influence body weight gain and feed consumption of broilers significantly (P>0.05), but improved feed convertion slightly (3.50%). The response in this trial was similar as thosecommercial diet and diet added with antibiotic. There was no significant (P>0.05) effect of Aloe vera bioactives on carcass yield, abdominal fat level and relative weight of liver. However, Aloe vera gel and its extract tend to increase gizzard weight, gastro intestinal weight and length. The Aloe vera gel and its extract also reduced the total count of aerobic bacteria in the digesta of tractus digestivus. It is concluded that the Aloe vera gel improve feed efficiency in broilers by increasing the size of tractus digestivus and reducing the total count of aerobic bacteria in the gastro intestinal tract. According to the changing scenario of global market, the dairy industry is considered to be one of the major food industry in world which manufactures a wide range of perishable (e.g. butter, yoghurt and cheese) and semi perishable (milk powder, casein) milk products. To maintain the quality and safety of these products, microbiological guidelines are an essential requirement. Milk obtained from the udder of a healthy milch animal is almost in sterile condition but gets contaminated during milking, transportation, storage and processing and also due to the entry of microbes through many other sources. Insufficient sanitization and cleaning causes contaminants to accumulate in milk processing equipment which subsequently form biofilm that further become significant source of contamination of dairy products. Biofilm is aggregations of microbial cells interconnected by extracellular polymeric substances which accelerate growth on different material surfaces adversely affect the dairy industry. This polymicrobial community contains altered phenotype which differ them from planktonic microbes physiologically. Biofilm: An Overview with Respect to Dairy Industry

Purpose: This study focuses on the process from initial curiosity to ultimate consumption in order to examine the elements influencing customer behaviour in the purchase of Ayurvedic products. Due to its holistic approach, perceived value, personal conventions, and customer intimacy goals of the manufacturing firms, the traditional medical system known as Ayurveda has become more popular in contemporary culture. The goal of the study is to comprehend how these elements affect consumer trust, which in turn affects buy intent and ultimate customer behaviour. In essence, it looks at the entire process of how customers interact with and choose Ayurvedic products, emphasising the crucial role that trust plays in this situation.
Design/Methodology/Approach: Secondary sources are used in the current study to obtain information. These sources cover a wide spectrum of published works, including books, journals, magazines, books, papers, and exploratory articles. The study made use of well-known academic databases including Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and ScienceDirect to get access to this data. In essence, the research uses scholarly sources and current information to influence its goals and conclusions.
Results/ Findings: Manufacturers of Ayurvedic products must take into account the intricacy of the factors that influence customer purchase behaviour. Businesses can modify their product offers by carefully examining the many factors that affect consumers' decisions when it comes to herbal items. This analysis enables marketers to effectively customise their strategies and more successfully advertise their products.
Originality/Value: Drawing on the body of existing information, this review analyses the various elements that influence customers who use Ayurvedic products in their purchasing decisions. Its goal is to give producers and marketers insightful information that will assist them better understand the elements that affect consumers in this sector. Armed with this information, companies may create focused marketing plans to effectively advertise Ayurvedic products, ultimately resulting in higher sales and profitability in this market sector.

Medicinal Herbs – Boon for Modern Veterinary Therapeutics

Malignant Catarrhal fever is a highly infectious and often fatal viral disease of animals of family Bovidae and Cervidae in the order Artiodactyla. MCFV is group of at least 10 gamma herpesviruses belonging to Genus Macavirus in the subfamiliy Gammaherpesvirinae, of which two viruses viz., Alcelaphine Herpesvirus -1 (AlHV-1) causing Wildebeest associated MCF (WA-MCF) and Ovine Herpes Virus -2 (OvHV-2) causing Sheep associated MCF (SA-MCF) are potentially pathogenic. These viruses remain asymptomatic in their natural Hosts wildbeests and sheep, respectively, but cause severe clinical disease in susceptible animals which are terminal/dead end hosts. MCFV is found worldwide wherever clinically susceptible hosts are found in the vicinity of inapparent wildlife carriers. The WA-MCF is a problem in African countries, threatening the conservation of dwindling wildebeest populations in these countries along with a major cause of tremendous economic losses to the livestock farmers in terms of increased veterinary cost, deaths and income lost due to annual migration of cattle during the breeding season of wildebeests to avoid the disease. SA-MCF is mainly an emerging disease of domestic animals, captive ruminants and wildlife outside Africa including India. Till now, clinical findings in susceptible species and histopathology was the main stay for the diagnosis but now serology is the method of choice. Competitive ELISA is a preferred test for the screening of infection in susceptible animals. Several multiplex PCRs have been validated to simultaneously detect and differentiate MCFVs OvHV-2, CpHV2, MCFV-WTD, MCFV-ibex and AlHV-1 with high sensitivity. Various vaccine candidates for AlHV-1 have been tested upon for last sixty years but hitherto, no effective commercial vaccine is available. As the disease is continuously spreading, a lot still needs to be understood regarding its transmission, epidemiology and ecology. Thus, there is a lot of scope for detailed studies and improved methods for better and prompt diagnostic methods, control and prevention.

Malignant catarrhal fever (MCF): An emerging threat

Biofilm is an aggregation of microbial cells interconnected by extracellular polymeric substances which accelerate growth on different material surfaces adversely affect the dairy industry. This polymicrobial community contains altered phenotype which differs them from planktonic microbes physiologically. It affects the quality and safety of raw materials and their products. Thus, producing serious problems directly affecting human health. Colonisation at the surfaces of open and closed piping systems, floors, waste, walls, ceilings of the production halls play a major role as barrier in the selection of effective sanitation agents for their control. As a result, the sector is forced to face a havoc economical loss. In fact, the condition is aggravating day-by-day. As microbes growing in a biofilm are highly resistant to antimicrobial agents and host’s immune system, it is obligatory to employ effective methods to retard the biofilm formation. Therefore, immediate appropriate precautionary measures should be adopted to combat the condition and prevent further complications.

Escherichia coli is a ubiquitous and enteric commensal organism of warm-blooded animals.Nevertheless, its pathogenic strains possess higher risks for both animals and public health as these are zoonotic in nature.It causes a range of pathogenesis including severe enteric manifestation in all age groups of humans and animals.Mostly, this may contract through ingestion of contaminated food and water.In this study, the detection of E. coli from dogs and cats comprising different health statuses in Braj was carried out using cultural and biochemical tests.Overall, the percentage of E. coli detection was 61.43% from the faecal samples collected in which 61.66% and 60% were from dogs and cats respectively.
